Induction Cooktops - Miele vs. Wolf vs. Bosch
Comments (68)trove: My Miele odor comment was intended as a zinger directed at Miele due to various complaints on this forum about dishwasher odor (probably not confined just to Miele). Some who have looked into this in depth have recently blamed it on humidity acting on microscopic food particles not flushed by the dishwashing process, and on dirty liquid in the dishwasher plumbing left over after operation. I know I have had odor problems at times with my Optima, but due to onset of winter have to wait until summer to try to verify whether either cause of blame is consistent with my observations. Miele has to conform to European laws relating to energy efficiency, and this also affects water usage. It may be that old style American dishwashers remained more sanitary in humid conditions after their drying cycle. I don't recall odor from childhood dishwashers, but I think my family's dishwasher was run more often than my Miele. kas...See MoreInduction cooktop 36" - Wolf vs Miele vs Bosch
Comments (15)Bring your pots into a showroom to try them out. Function-wise I suspect you would be happy with any of these, but layout may be another story. I chose the Miele (not with the flex burner - was not out yet) because I wanted to easily be able to use 3 12" skillets at the same time - it's great for that, and much better than the newer model IMO or any of the other models. Many of them just have smaller hob sizes which are not as good for larger skillets (boiling water doesn't matter so much - so depends on what you are doing). Love the separate burner timers too - we use them a lot more than we thought we would for our pressure cooker, rice, pasta, drying cast iron, etc. Definitely thrilled with our choice all the way around! You probably can't make a wrong choice here though....See MoreInduction dilemma: Wolf vs Monogram vs Miele
Comments (6)I can only speak to the wolf 36” induction. I have had the frameless contemporary now for 2 1/2+ years. I am very pleased with it. It had the best pot recognition (could put a 4” pot on the largest hob and it still recongized) that I tested - Miele was not available and did not even look at Monogram. I very much like the bridging flexibility and it works very well. Each hob has its own control - you can slide it with you finger to adjust or direct select. The lower levels are close together so you get great low to medium heat control. It does not have the auto timers/shut off that you get with the Miele. Not a feature I have missed but that depends on what you cook frequently. That lack of features is reflected in the price point. It is very intuitive to use as my daughters and friends that show up to cook have not had an issue adjusting as they are all used to cooking on gas. I also like that the Small/Medium hobs are all the same size so you can use pots up to 10” on any of those hobs and use a 10”+ size pan on the large hob on the right. I have not felt “cramped” when I have had several pans in use at the same time. Hope this helps!! I had the opportunity to test drive the models in contention at the time and I did eliminate a few due to the interface controls and pot recognition....See MoreBest warranty? Comments (22)Ccwatters, I’m glad you are not offended. I thought when you said “picking my comments apart and arguing each ” and characterized others posts as “speculative” that you were. Even your last comment about “criticism” has that connotation. Good to know you aren’t. Yes, you did thank both of us and others, but when I said “ask follow up questions” I meant asking specific questions of the people who posted, especially the new owner. I do understand asking for newer reviews. Sometimes people comment about a brand they have had for 15 years when there have been several model changes so the comment is no longer valid. The Wolf M is in the sweet spot of a fair amount of threads and no real changes. Wolf is in kind of a conundrum. They can’t really admit to the chipping problem, yet they made the bottom replaceable. If you have read all the threads about the chipping and uneven browning and were assured, then you made the best decision for you. If you don’t have that browning on the sides, that is wonderful. I always take people at their word as to what they say happens in their own kitchen and this is also why the posts about uneven browning concern me. I just post to bring awareness to the issues reported here that you will not hear about by anyone marketing a product, and people can make their own decision. I’m aware of how the message system works but I believe comments need to be public as they may benefit someone down the line reading this as a later point....See MoreColonial Remodel
