Comments (5)We first bought a Kenmore Elite HE toploader in 2012, thinking the upper cabinet space requirement limited us to toploader option. (I believe that LG was the actual manufacturer then). Well, the toploader was horrific. I'd put in navy tops and they would come out with white soap residue like the spin wasn't working to get all the clothes stirred up. Sears was awesome; they let me exchange them for the Kenmore Elite front loaders, also by LG. MUCH better! I've been happily using them ever since. Put them on pedestals to save my back. I referred my dad to Speed Queen because he lives where water is not an issue. For us in So. CA, water conservation trumps the water hungry Speed Queens so use water conservation as a guide. Comments (20)Thanks!! Well, after much thought and research this weekend, I'm sold on the Miele's and fine with the small capacity. I've learned a lot here, so thank you all! Now I am just making sure that there is anything so special about the little giants vs their new W1 and T1. From the calls I've made today, it seems people were mostly buying the little giants because that was the biggest they could buy for home use, and that reason now goes away with the W1T1. They do handle a bigger work load and should last longer, but that won't be important to me, considering the cost savings of not getting them. It seems the best feature of the Little giants was to add more water, but I'm just going by what I read and really have no knowledge about the subject. The little giants would have solved my layout problems because the door swing worked better for us, so you are right Rocogurl, but because spending 2k more for two washers to solve my problem seems crazy, I'm going to alter the laundry room design. We were only at the shop drawing stage. We have a drain in the room for a sink and another for the washer, so I'll look at some configurations that will work within those parameters. Nothing will be perfect, but the room was never great anyway. So, it looks like 2 W1's and 1 T1. I don't want to stack them because I hate bending, so I am hoping to find room to put them side by side and on a platform. While a 2nd dyer seems nice, Im thinking the dryer is much bigger than the washer, so we can probably wash two loads and put both in the dryer. I don't dry things with elastics to help the longevity, BUT, because the heat pump dryer is supposed to be so much more gentle, I'm wondering if I'll wind up drying a lot more than I currently do. My clothes are not so special, but I just like my things to last. Any thoughts on if the new dryer will replace hang dry? That was a mouth full !!!...See MoreWashing Machines: Asko Logic or Miele WXD160?
Comments (4)Hello zteam. There’s another option you might or might not have come across which is Electrolux’s compact washer, which is sold in both Canada and the US and also has quite a large market share in Europe. It has pretty good reviews from multiple sites. It also has a slightly, higher capacity than the Miele does and it’s high spin speed is 1400 RPMs so it’s a pretty good water extractor as well. One other specific feature to note about this particular brand is that they have a second floor guarantee, which is unusual for front load washing machines. I think the guarantee has something to do with the machine being able to remain stable even on second floors which have a wooden base. It also has a built-in water heater with a sanitize cycle option amongst other cycles if that is something that also interests you. Here’s a link to just one of the many retailers in Canada that carry it. https://www.rona.ca/en/product/electrolux-28-cu-ft-24-in-high-efficiency-stackable-front-load-washer-swing-door-with-steam-cycle-white-energy-star-elfw4222aw-10355563...See Moreli_ry83
