Hi, Pagan, the plant is probably ten years old now, it was neglected and the cardex was rotting and soft when it was given to me by a friend. Probably he has no hope for it's survival. I did a major surgery by cutting off the rottened parts and severe prunning to the tops, washed it clean and hang it for three weeks indoors before I replanted it. Two months later it shows sign of growth and I started the graftings. Currently I have three colours purple, santa claus and triple red petals in this plant. Obviously my friend is very jealous now.

Thank you my friends....I am happy that you take time to leave comments. Mark, yes the COT cuttings were in the back. I did many cuttings to trade for the ones I don't have. COT is my other collection. I now have over 60 pots of COT and when they in bloom they are beautiful. I am still buying the ones I don't have if I saw it. Hi Mirek, nice seedling you got there. Tell me, did you found it on this location where it is growing now or did you move it till this place? Which Abies species did grow in it's direct neighbourhood? Dax mentioned that it smells very strong, lemon I guess... The 'Leuteneggeri' is a cross between Abies grandis and Abies concolor. In my opinion your's could be the other way around, a cross between Abies concolor x Abies grandis. Your pics are showing an Abies grandis needle which curves likes an Abies concolor...

Wow Jari, you have such a perfect technique it's like watching a commercial grafter. I am much less smooth and slick. I did 23 grafts yesterday and every cut was just right but I did them from diffent angles, sometimes standing above the RS and cutting downwards. It was the wrapping that became tricky as I was grafting on curved surfaces sometimes and the scion wanted to spring off. Once you have the first winds at the bottom and have trapped it then it's easy to wind it but that could be a fight needing three hands! Wonderful vid, I'll watch it before I graft in future to focus myself.
