Comments (21)Neice gave me access to her account so I could "see" her photos and listen to her "great" music. I don't think she realizes I'm smart enough to navigate the entire site. I don't want to burst her bubble and let her know the music isn't really all that great, either. LOL I had to set up a dummy account of my own. I have a fake non-name user name; no personal info other than "married," "age" (was a default setting) and "USA", and have it set so no one except Niece can look at it. Nephew doesn't know I accessed his page. I used his email address, and BOOM!; there he was in all his pierced and tattooed glory. (Their tats don't bother me as much as the lip piercings; and neither bother me as much as the contents and comments.) The page was set to "public" so I could see it. For now, I'm just going to steer clear of the pages and continue to write, call, email, through the regular channels and try to encourage them to do the best they can. I never had children; but here I am, experiencing all the worry, anxiety, fear, anger, and hope "real" mothers are subjected to. Niece is, and has always been, my special girl and spent every summer with me from birth until she was 14. Her 15th summer was spent at home, and she got pregnant. Nephew lived with me two different times for a total of 4-5 years. I wish I could smack their bottoms, send them to their rooms, and ground them until they are 45. I have two other young nieces, three young nephews, and five great nieces/nephews. I better wear out the old knees praying there's hope for these young ones....See MoreBaby constipation
Comments (7)Baby cereal with oats or oat flours will have fibre that holds more water than rice baby cereal probably. Also some fruits are higher in fiber than others apples and plums beat grapes and berries. Dried fruits can be stewed or softened up with water and those would be really high in fibre (maybe too high for this purpose). An example of the juice thing would be that prune juice, or pasteurized unfiltered apple juice have _way_ more fiber than filtered clear fruit juices will. (Make sure juices have been pasteurized, or otherwise treated in a way to kill any untoward bacteria.) does he seem to have pain, or just really get into the excretion process like it was an aerobic exercise? (if he doesn't seem to have pain, or discomfort even if he seems to strain he may not be constipated; and some babies really seem to be paying attention to their bodies and working out some kind of whole-body exercise to help things along)...See MoreConstipated Kitty (Warning - LONG)
Comments (16)Hi Everyone, Thank you for the responses, suggestions, and advice. laurief - I found the links you sent to be very informative and helpful, thank you. So, as an update over the past few days... following my last post on Monday, I cleaned the litter-boxes and found that her stool had become more liquidy. I had been informed that if this happened, we would want to lower the dosage. Neither of the vets I had spoken to before was in, but it was recommended that I lower the dose and skip that night, and give her 2 doses the next day and that the nighttime vet I'd been in contact with previously (the one who initially saw and treated her) would call me the following evening. Her stool was liquidy again yesterday, so upon talking with the emergency night vet, we have lowered the dose further to 1 time per day, and as of today stool was back to normal. If this continues, the intent is to lower the dose further on Saturday to every other day, and take her off of it completely within the next week. (YAY!) I asked about the pumpkin, and the vet said that she has never tried this herself, but has heard of it working well and thought it was a good idea for me to try. I have also increased her canned food amount over the past couple days so that she is gettig some every day rather than as an occassional "treat." I have tried the Wellness before, as well as others, but since switching her to Innova she won't touch anything else, so I don't think a complete change in diet is an option right now. But I am going to cut back on the dry food and increase the wet food and try the pumpkin and see how she does. My cats are essentially my kids. They even have health insurance that rivals my own... so I'm going to try whatever I can to get her back to her regular old self!...See More"Opiod induced constipation" commercials-sad state of affairs
Comments (51)When I began the series of radiations for prostate cancer, Jan. 6, the radiation therapists (as they call themselves _ I call them "radiators") told me that I'd likely need to be visiting the bathroom more often - and they ... were... not... kidding! Like - about 20 times a day, some days, sometimes in rather concentrated "shots" ... so that sometimes I can have a couple of hours to myself. Anyway ... the doc suggested some imodium to slow down the diarrhea, and I've been using it for a couple of weeks ... with little visible result. The therapist told me the other day, on my having asked, that I could probably expect some "hangover" ... ... for a couple of weeks ... to a month ... after the radiation is completed, on Wed. Feb. 24. Wish me luck! ole joyfuelled ... with rather low level of usual fuelling, lately...See MoreUser
