Comments (10)I also use a Panasonic Lumix FZ30 and purchased extra macro lenses for up close and personal shots of eggs. Works great for a 12x zoom camera. Love the LCD screen flips out and rotates every which way. Also bought a Sony DSC-H9 earlier this year. Couldn't resist the lure of a 15x Carl Zeiss lens. Works quite well and has a pretty good macro mode. Still want to get suitable macro lenses for closer detail shots. Am still trying to get used to it. It is really lightweight (I got used to the heaviness of the Lumix). Great sized LCD screen but it doesn't rotate...just flips out and up/down. Don't like the fact that the camera button for mode settings moves too easily. Any slight brush with your thumb move the wheel to another setting. Has a great zoom for viewing photos and of course, the detail on the photos are fantastic. You can really zoom in on an uploaded photo without distorting the pixels. It also has a night shot feature which I've tested but haven't found any good subjects to photograph. Kind of dream of being on an African safari and photographing lions on their night kills :o) ROLF (Will be attending some Blacklight Moth-ing treks in October so will definitely be trying it out then) Oh...and I had to purchase a separate multi-bay card reader since the dratted Sony H9 camera card doesn't work on my computer. Didn't want to hassle with having to connect the USB cord to the camera everytime I had to download photos. I still take both cameras out into the field with me. Usually leave the Panasonic Lumix in the car and bring that out only if I find caterpillars or eggs I want to photograph with the macro lense attachments. ~ Cat...See MoreAnyone have a LATEX mattress?
Comments (53)I have a latex mattress. First let me say that I have bad reflux so I have to sleep in some unusual positions. I'm also getting older and I don't have as much padding on my hips, etc. Before all this I always slept on a hard mattress. I could not stand a soft mattress....made my back hurt. Well, I needed a new mattress and did a lot of research. I ended up buying from a company on-line who had lots of good reviews and I believe an excellent BBB rating. The customer service was great. They also gave a 365 day trial period. Plus free pillows and mattress cover. You could return it if you didn't like it. Just pay shipping back. You can't beat that. When I first tried it, it was wonderful. I don't think I even moved all night long. It is easy to get in and out of bed. You do not sink down into the mattress. You sleep on top of the mattress. It was perfect for me. Then I developed the medical issues with reflux. I had surgery and slept for the good part of a year sitting up on the couch. When I went back to the bed, I would start out alright but then my hips would hurt. I think it is because I have to elevate the head of the bed and then I sleep on my side and it puts pressure on my hips. I don't think the mattress has anything to do with it. I wish I had known this before my 365 day trial period was up. The mattress does not have that terrible smell that Tempur-pedic mattresses has. You do not sleep hot. It is great for adjustable beds. It is great for people who have allergies or asthma. I can't think of any negatives that can be attributed to the mattress. Well, it is heavy. I am going to sell it and get a soft mattress, though. But that is because of my hips hurting from me having to have the head of the bed elevated and I sleep on my side with it elevated. Not a very natural position. I guess the negative was that is was pricey, but it seems all the latex mattresses are pricey. And it is heavy....See MoreA little OT, I need to buy a new mattress
Comments (24)We purchased the Simmons Beautyrest Black Helena Pillowtop back in Dec 2006. I truly loved it for the first few months, and then it started with the body indentations. I thought the indents were from the mattress cover, so took that off, no change, turned mattress, nothing. It progressively got worse that we had 2 ditches in this King size. I called Boston Store Furniture Gallery, 20 months into owning it. Major back and neck problems set in. They sent out an inspector and sure enough, 1 ½ inch body indents and the sides of the mattress were busting out. Inspector told me that his report would reflect a defective mattress. I asked his opinion of how many defective mattresses he seeÂs and he said "off the record" to strongly fight for a replacement but to stay clear of this Helena as he has seen many defective mattresses. Simmons sold me on the single coils for less movement on the mattress as I flip a lot. In my opinion, those single coils are receiving a lot of strain. In order to get a replacement under the warranty, it has to be equal or greater than what I had spent. Well, I really donÂt want to get another Helena due to the problems I had on this one. The salesperson hasnÂt heard any of these complaints and actually had 3 other couples trying out the Helena as we spoke. She has sold over 100 of these w/o any other complaints. I have 21 days to decide if I want it replaced, or to try another mattress. She wants me to try it again, but I hesitate. Due to what I spent on the Helena, I would have to go with a Tempurpedic type bed but donÂt think that will work for us. Anyone else having problems with the Helena indentations? Comments (20)@martinca_gw sunset zone 24 we bought a regular mattress. In fact we were mattress shopping and tried out the adjustable base and decided to purchase that also. Our mattress is thick (you may remember my post on finding deep pocket sheets) but I'm not sure what the depth is. We rotate it, but it is one you do not flip. It moves fine and as far as I can tell, no damage in "bending" the mattress. We only had it a little over a year. This was all at the advice of the salesperson though and both mattress and base have a warranty. I guess time will tell!...See MoreMizLizzie
