My Shampoo Soap Bar Experience
Comments (99)Chiming in again, since I guess that I started the whole shampoo bar thing here. Before I went on the Camino last year I trialed several bars. I rather liked the Grapefruit bar from Sweetsnthings, but I had also bought a bar made by Tree Hut at a local store. It was their 4 in 1 Mango bar. I really loooooved how it made my hair feel, and it smells yummy, so that's what I took on the Camino with me, and I liked everything about it. It's got more, for want of a better word, "chemically" ingredients, more like a traditional liquid shampoo, but worked better for me than the other bars, especially since I have hard water at home, and wasn't able to do an ACV rinse on the Camino. When I returned home from Spain I went to buy some more, but discovered that it had been discontinued! I managed to find 3 bars on clearance, which I am hoarding for my next Camino walk. (this summer, yay!) But now my search was on to find a replacement. I've been usingthis one from another Etsy vendor, LakeSuperiorSoap, and it leaves my hair soft and silky. The scent is nice, but pretty strong. I have also tried this one from GetLathered on Etsy. I like it too, but not quite as much. Neither shampoo leaves any kind of residue in my hair. After shampooing I use a quick swipe of this conditioner bar through my hair to make it easier to comb, but it hasn't been that hard to comb without it. The conditioner bar has lasted forever....See MoreEcovent Experiences Anyone ? Real Experience ?
Comments (21)This is a tough one. The Ecovents themselves are pretty good. We’ve had them for six years, and they definitely work. On the other hand, the complaints about customer service and battery replacement are very real. We have 16 Ecovents in our home and have to replace the batteries every few months. About four years ago, we comtacted customer service about this, as that’s obviously a far cry from 3–5 years. Their customer service was awesome: they said they’d look into it and get back to me, and a couple of days later, they informed me that it was a firmware issue. Batteries were being drained much more quickly than expected, and as an apology (and out of gratitude for letting them know), they said they would cover my batteries for the next ten years: anytime I needed more, just let them know. Now, obviously, this was a great deal. Not only were they covering my costs, but it gave them another reason to improve the functionality: the better the battery life, the fewer they’d have to send. It was a win-win! A few months later, the batteries started dying and I contacted them. Obviously, they hadn’t fixed the problem; but true to their word, they sent me enough AA batteries to power all 16 vents. Unfortunately, that’s where it stopped: when the batteries started dying again, a few months later, I called for replacements and was told that free batteries isn’t something they do, that I’d obviously misunderstood. And, you know, that’s possible. I was probably just thrown off by the fact that after they said they’d send me free batteries, they sent me free batteries. It’s an understandable mistake. To be honest, the functionality has improved quite a bit, since then. The batteries still don’t last very long, but we’ve started buying them in bulk from Amazon. The Ecovents don’t seem to last much longer with high-end Energizers or Duracells than they do with Amazon’s own brand, so we save the money that way. I just replaced 40 of them, in the last 24 hours, and everything seems to be working just fine. Furthermore, Ecovent has been acquired by Keen Home, and they seem to have much better customer service than Ecovent’s eventually degenerated to be. (I won’t go into details, but suffice to say there were more issues than the battery one.) So yeah… a mixed bag. Personally, I think they’d probably do a lot better in addition to a traditional zoning system than on their own—which is, after all, an option they support. But since I’ve never had both Ecovents and traditional zoning in the same house, I can’t say for sure....See MoreDo you have a king size adjustable bed?
Comments (27)We have an adjustable latex queen bed. It is not split. Of course dH wants his feet up, and I cannot breath unless my head is elevated. I wish we had gotten the split king, since they did not have split queens. We comprised! He got the bed; I bought a recliner and put it in the (cramped) bedroom. He can elevate his feet, and I can breathe in the recliner. I “make” the recliner just like it’s a bed, with bottom sheets, as many blankets as I need, and a colorful top “bedspread.” I can sleep warmly now! He runs “hot” and never wants more than one thin blanket on the bed. He can sleep “cold.” It’s hard for me to sit on the side of the bed. I raise the head and foot up a bit to change the sheets, too....See MoreBBSTX Compilation
Comments (0)How is this for total self-centeredness? This is a post compiling all the posts I started concerning the fluffing up I’m doing at my house, sort of a decorating diary. It is more for me than for anyone to comment on. I tried to make an Ideabook but I could never figure out how to compile the links. I wanted a place I could easily refer back. I realize a compilation is a dangerous thing to do. I’m sure there are inconsistencies, contradictions, and things that just didn’t happen. What can I say? I’m fickle, easily swayed, and human. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6043318/need-advice-from-those-with-split-king-adjustable-bed#26363289 https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6043242/new-buffet-lamp-with-unfortunate-design#n=11 https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6040765/plates-hung-on-a-wall https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6030719/ottoman-style-for-mbr https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6024687/buying-art https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6023242/need-yardage-linen-with-a-touch-of-poly https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6021120/i-know-this-rug-exists https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6020349/sw-emerald-vs-duration-and-sheen-questions https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6018420/tilt-back-chairs https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6017684/progress-and-thanks-to-kswl-and-sueb https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6016722/rugs-synthetic-but-natural-looking https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6016378/adjustable-bed-bedskirts https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6013343/adjustable-split-king-experiences-recommendations https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6063518/fabric-decision-help-needed#n=34...See Morebbstx
