Just curious -- do you have a king or a queen sized bed?
Comments (39)Thanks again for all the great responses here. I'm happy to report that just tonight I finally made my decision and ordered a king! I went with the Novaform memory foam from Costco (they're on sale this week). I'm a bit nervous -- a bed seems like such a crucial purchase and it's so easy to get wrong -- but I feel like anything will be better than our tired old mattress. I need to decide what sort of actual bed to get with it. Since we previously had a queen I can't use the same box springs with the new mattress. I realize no box spring is necessary, but we don't even have a bed frame of any kind. We may buy a really nice bed sometime in the future, but for now I just want to sleep comfortably! I suppose it will be okay on the floor for a while, but I'll need to think of something pretty quickly. I don't think my poor old knees could take getting out a bed on the floor for too long! Thanks again for your input -- it really helped our decision-making process....See MoreWhere do you get your adjustable bed sheets?
Comments (7)I am using the Wamsutta Pinpoint 360 from BedBath&beyond. I was able to buy the sheets individually, so I was able to buy the 2 - twin extra long fitted sheets, and then the regular king top sheet and king pillowcases. BB&B was the ONLY store in Tulsa, OK that carried the twin x-long in individual sheets. In stock. I have never had the corners slip of the mattresses. Ever. The elastic around them is cheap, and not snug, but like I said, they have never slipped off the beds. They are percale sheets though. I had always slept on sateen sheets so it was a HUGE change for me. For about a month and a half, I was miserable every night. I couldn't sleep on those scratchy, noisy, sandpaper sheets! I was near tears several times. They were the only sheets I had so I HAD to use them. But then one day, they were great. I don't know if it was me or the sheets, but one of us changed and now I love them and will never go back to sateen sheets again. By the way, I wash my sheets at least weekly and NEVER use fabric softener, yuk! They are also the only set of sheets we have for our bed. I hate folding sheets, so I like to just wash and them put them back on the bed. One day I will get a new set (hopefully get to try the sferra brand) and these will become my "emergency" sheets. On a side note, I bought the mattress protectors at Dillards. They fit the mattresses perfect. The elastic around them is much better than the sheets by Wamsutta. And the best thing about the mattress protectors, they are MADE IN THE USA! The dillards website said they were imported, but the tags on both mattress pads stated they were made in the USA. I did buy them at the store since I was lucky they were in stock!...See MoreAdjustable split-King experiences/recommendations
Comments (20)@martinca_gw sunset zone 24 we bought a regular mattress. In fact we were mattress shopping and tried out the adjustable base and decided to purchase that also. Our mattress is thick (you may remember my post on finding deep pocket sheets) but I'm not sure what the depth is. We rotate it, but it is one you do not flip. It moves fine and as far as I can tell, no damage in "bending" the mattress. We only had it a little over a year. This was all at the advice of the salesperson though and both mattress and base have a warranty. I guess time will tell!...See MoreAdjustable bed, like them or not
Comments (13)I love the adjustable part of mine. I have a sleep number bed and although I like that we can have different settings on it I don't find it to be as comfortable as our worn out mattress we had a couple of years ago. It is better now after I put a topper on it. I like a fairly hard bed so at times my sleep number is at the highest setting, but need some padding close to my body too. I'm a side sleeper in general, but the bed was incredibly helpful when I had an injured ankle and needed to elevate it at night. I also use it when watching TV or reading and since it has a timer that I can set to adjust it to automatically go flat I often fall asleep with it up, but it adjusts and I can continue to sleep as it adjusts as it does it slowly. It is also helpful to be able to raise my head just a little when my allergies are bad. I wake up with a less stuffy head that way and my kid gets to sleep in it when she has a cold to help elevate her head. She has a loft bed so we can't really do it on her bed. DH prefers sleeping in a recliner which is why we got it to start with. He still sleeps in the recliner because apparently I constantly wake him up when I move etc. He is a light sleeper. He did test it out though while I was traveling and thought it was ok, but he's used to the recliner now and one night isn't enough to get the settings right....See Moreolychick
