Anyone have a foam mattress topper?
Comments (14)Well, I went ahead and purchased the one below. Chisue, there is quite a bit of information on the linked page, plus links to the "Buyers Guide" for more information. I don't think they are returnable to overstock.com, but I've seen them at Kohls and Marshalls where they might be returnable if used. Anyway, they would be nearly impossible to repack and get in a box to ship back, plus costly to ship. I previously purchased a latex pad (a little different from memory foam), but it's still too firm. I'll put it on the guest bed. So I'm trying the memory foam now. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just OLD and nothing will feel good! LOL! Here is a link that might be useful: Bodipedic...See MoreLatex (NOT Memory) Foam Topper?
Comments (8)Just to add. The link that Beekeeperswife gave you is really good. I actually called Peter about 4 years ago and he was very helpful. He told me NOT to buy a mattress but to try a topper, which we did (the memory foam one). It got us an extra year and I was impressed that he didn't try to steer us into buying a mattress. Seemed like an honest guy. After I bought my latex (which is organic Dunlop BTW-the firmer type) I contacted him again about my back problems. He told me that I should have bought a different mattress after explaining my problems. Well, too late for me. I would give him a call and speak directly to him for some ideas. I still can't figure out if I need a firmer bed or what is the problem. I do know that it is important to tell people how you sleep (back, stomach, side). I lie on my side. I am 53 so I don't know if it's just years of conditioning my back to a firmer mattress. I also have a lordoctic spine so I feel like a softer mattress just lets the back become more lordoctic. Very impt. to always buy where you can get a refund. I know Bloomingdales has great mattress sales in January and I think they may allow returns. Savvy allowed exchanges, but not refunds and they feel the slant or sag isn't deep enough. So we are stuck. But my bed also came in layers as someone else described and it weighs a ton. Also, I think the Sealy Spring free is not natural latex and I know Peter recommends it. A mattress topper in firm would be my choice for now for you. Remember, the firm softens up. It really is a crap shoot. I was thinking of the bed that has air in it. Running out of ideas myself!...See MoreNeed some mattress advice, anyone have heavenly bed or Ikea mattress?
Comments (20)I use the firmest mattress I have ever felt (a Simmons Beautyrest). It's great. It has only one sleeping side, so no flipping; it's designed for a platform base. This feels like a futon on a floor; it's solid. I'm 6 ft, 170 lbs. The mattress has served me well, with no signs of wear. I hate soft or medium mattresses. IKEA doesn't make one firm enough for me. Be aware, that just because a mattress is innerspring doesn't mean that it doesn't have a latex layer of padding....See MoreLatex Mattress Hunt
Comments (0)I am adding to the Latex discussions, as I am looking for a bed. I may I have settled on Flobeds, having found their site through The Mattress Underground site mentioned on one of the numerous threads about latex. I would like to know if anyone has used this brand, and specifically the Talalay vZone mattress. As you can see in this link, there is a top 2" soft layer, next, a layer that has moveable segments of variable latex firmnesses for customization; I think 6 segments. Then under that a 3" layer of denser foam, and then the bottom layer with another 3" layer of denser foam. This all depends on your weight and height, and your desired sleeping positions and firmness preferences. Its a lot of money. Any thoughts? I have cross posted this in the Furniture forum too....See Moremomfromthenorth
