Talk to me about red fox....... bear with me please
Comments (9)We had a family of red foxes living in a rocky hillside next to our screen porch. There was a mom and 3 kits. Needless to say, we had no garden varmints that summer! We'd run from window to window to watch them pounce on mice and chipmunks all over the property. Often they'd run up and down the driveway. They came out after noon and were active from then on. I would find animal parts they dragged into the yard, huge fish skeletons (we live across from a reservoir in Ulster County), duck carcasses and deer legs, etc. It was worth the clean-up just to have them around. They behaved just like puppies. I read that one of each litter will return to the same den next year. Ours didn't. When we had gravel dumped and spread on the driveway, they disappeared. The neighbor shot one that was getting into her chickens, and I saw one dead on our road...very sad. But I found a piece of fabric at Joann's with a perfect picture of those 3 fox kits, which I made into a wall quilt for the porch. Nice memories. That was such a wonderful lifetime experience. We see one now and then along the stone wall, looking for rodents....See MoreTalk to me about apps, please.
Comments (47)Raven, these are the sorts of things I've been reading about about SwiftKey. I wonder if the problem is specific to the N7....? I was going to buy the $3.99 version 3 for tablets. Please fix the issue of erasing on tablets (tf300). When pressing the back key to erase the app goes crazy and starts retyping whatever was typed last. This makes the app almost useless since the smallest of mistakes can not be corrected unless by changing back to the Asus keyboard. Solid 5 stars when an update fixes this. The space and backspace doesn't function at certain times on my nexus 7. It's very frustrating. I understand this problem has been stated. I'll be disabling swiftkey until it's fixed. This was the first purchase I made on my Nexus 7 and I have updated everything but this will not take. Brought it to dev friends to see if I am a moron, good news is I am not, bad news is It still doesn't work. Any direction would be greatly appreciated....See MoreTalk to me about bedding, please
Comments (24)I also have the St. Dormeir wool pad. You can wash it (though I haven't yet), but it would not protect the mattress from seepage if a kid has an accident. As far as pillows, they are the hardest thing to recommend to someone else because preferences vary so greatly. When we bought our latex mattress, I tested the various latex pillows at the store and could not find one with the right loft. I ended up with a shredded latex pillow, which worked well for me because I could remove the amount of latex necessary to make the pillow work for me. I now love it so much I bought one for my mom, since I was sure she'd love it, too. And she could not have hated it more. So now I have 2 nice shredded latex pillows! My recommendation for pillows is to go to a good bedding store and try them all out. Listening to people's recommendations online is likely to result in your spending good money on something that doesn't work for you....See MoreTalk to Me About LED Light Bulbs Please
Comments (15)Bought the Philips 60w "Warm Glow" LEDs at HD yesterday (under $10/ea). On full power they aren't as bright as an incandescent 60w bulb. They DO have the softer, warmer glow that an incandescent bulb does and warms even more as it dims. Still doesn't dim as low as a "real" light bulb. I do like how LEDs don't produces as much heat. Looks like there is going to have to be some compromising. As "cave like" as DH's bathroom is (and he wanted it that way), 180 total watts probably isn't going to be enough light. The 300w (dimmable) was plenty light but it was so white and messed with his bathroom color palette...does he care? NO! But I do :) What to do. Call Philips and ask them to make a 100w "warm glow" LED that will dim lower. That's it! I'm sure they'll get right on that! <g> I considered buying a set of the Crees too but I'm really not liking the whiteness of the LEDs. I'm sure it's OK in some applications. Oh, the Philips don't visibly flicker or hum when turned down....See Moresushipup1
