Comments (9)Buford--I love the idea of including tree roses in the middle of the upper tier. I actually saw a couple of Frankly Scarlett "18 tree roses this afternoon. They also had a couple of 36" Double Delights. Are there antique tea tree roses? Might be pretty to put a ground cover rose between the tree roses to hang down from the upper tier. brhgm, I saw a Mutabilis today and it had a few blooms on it, very pretty. They had Penelope, too, but it wasn't blooming. Someone else recommended Mutabilis, hmmm. Thanks so much for the ideas! Denise...See MoreRoses for a healing garden, rose selection please help
Comments (11)God bless you and your mother, the most fragrant roses I've smelled include: Baronne Prevost' a pink rose. Papa Meilland a red rose, that has a chalice shaped bloom. Mr. Lincoln, another red rose Oklahoma a red-black rose by the way, be sure and plant deep red roses in partial shade so they don't burn and crisp. "Pope John the second" rose is very fragrant, of mixed floral. "Lemon Spice' and Lemon Zest' are very fragrant yellow roses. nearly everybody who sees my rose garden, enjoy the sight of Double Delight' and are even more impressed when they smell it. creamy white centers edged with pink or red depending on the climate. Ebb Tide' for a fragrant purple rose. For historical interest 'The Apothecary Rose' which was used for centuries in Europe to treat both blood and womens' complaints, with its' petals being used for potpourri. I think hortico.com still sells it, under Gallica. Pax and Moonlight for white roses that have a Musk Rose scent, both are very floriferous. hortico.com ships bareroot roses in winter and they sell Moonlight' . helpmefind.com/ under "Plant" and "Search" shows all the above roses. kind thoughts, love, and best wishes for healing, Luxrosa P.S, a scented rose garden with lavender and rosemary, and lemon verbena around it, can uplift the spirits....See MorePlease help me order a few more roses

I didn’t catch up on this thread until now, or I would have reminded you that my Louise Odier is probably Grandmother’s Hat. ( Add me to the list of people not feeling well, lately.) I’m still not 100% sure who she is, but she’s certainly a winner here. I purchased her as Louise Odier from RVR. I was going to suggest you might order Louise Odier from RVR, and see what happens, but they deal mainly in band size roses. Now that I have more Bourbon roses, I’m convinced mine isn’t Louise Odier. Her growth habit is more upright, instead of cascading once the canes become longer. She’s also FAR cleaner, foliage wise than my other Bourbons. Isn't Daisy’s climate similar to ours? Perhaps you could have a look at her roses to give you some ideas. I bought the DA ‘Perdita’ after seeing hers do so well. Unfortunately I thought I was doing Perdita a favor by planting her in partial shade, apparently Perdita needs far more sun than many DA’s, even in So CA. She hasn’t bloomed at all since I planted her out. That means I’ll have to move her. As Roselady said, Princess Charlene de Monaco grows to at LEAST 8F high here. I do remember Cori Ann saying hers needed extra water, and would appreciate some PM shade. My two PCDM’s receive full sun, but my soil is heavy, rich clay, quite different from yours. For the past two years, my very favorite nursery has had lots of grafted PCDM’s in 3? 5? gallon containers at exactly this time of year. If you’re considering PCDM at all, I’d suggest buying her locally, so you’d get a large plant to start with. The nursery is Walter Andersen in Poway. They also carry a large assortment of David Austins. If you’re both up to it, have a look at Walter Andersen’s. They carry many different roses, and also many native and rabbit resistant plants. Comments (51)I'm not a fan of any of those options...for various reasons. Mostly because the style/scale as well as the tone doesn't look like it would compliment the bed.....although without links hard to know. The Bernhardt nightstands in your pic from Haverty's are 40 W x30 H x21 D. That is why they don't look dwarfed by the bed. Do you have room to do something like the pic Penny posted? Basically a simple open rectangle with a sturdy leg? Another thing I'd consider is taking a look at kids' dressers/desks. Some are even similar in size and shape to the Bernhardt nightstands.... https://www.perigold.com/furniture/pdp/smiling-hill-4-drawer-dresser-sta6494.html?piid=17238112 Another approach would be multi-tiered side tables, not these exact ones obviously, but again something with enough heft and presence to play nicely with that bed....See Morefilly_z8bFL
