How do you store stuffed toys long term?
Comments (19)I'll be selling any leftover stuffed toys at an upcoming tag sale late September/early October (minus the Steiff frog from the '50's, which really takes up no space whatsoever -- 15 years or so ago it was worth at least $100 on eBay). Anything else I'm still fond of (the leopard is the only one that comes to mind) I'll photograph first. Anything that remains after that will be donated. I am finally really purging! (I hope!) - no, I don't have that many stuffed animals left -- the leopard, the frog, a lion, two bunnies and two cats. Oh, and a tiny musical elephant. Of course it is different if you are dealing with a toddler's toys. Save a couple aside that she (or he) really likes and seems to talk to, even if she's doing it much less frequently now. My brother was attached to a stuffed bull well into 8th grade. Someone suggested vacuum sealing the stuffed animals -- if the plush is in good condition, I think this would flatten down and ruin the plush, if saving the stuffed critters is of interest to you. (Then,, of course, they might be easier to get rid of further down the road, if they are perma-smashed!!)...See MoreMerry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all! Toy box
Comments (11)Thanks, Marylee. He's too young now, but I think he will grow to love it. Merry Christmas to you, too! Thanks, Luvs! Awww, you're so sweet. He's adorable, I must say. lol! I should have taken more close up pictures of it. It was hard to photograph because I coated it in shiny clear poly, several coats, to protect it. The poly bounced the light. Hope you all have a lovely holiday season, how ever you celebrate!...See MoreMy New Toy
Comments (8)I purchased 8.5x11 photo paper so I can print photos. I have colored construction paper for printing cute cards. Business cards and return address labels. Get a 3-hole punch for printing recipes & putting in a binder. Now don't forget to go on Ebay and buy extra ink cartridges for this thing. Have fun with it! And yes....an mp3 player is sooooooooooo worth it. The black Friday sales should provide one for about $10, 2mp. You can download lots of free music on the internet......See MoreWashing stuffed toys?
Comments (13)Thanks Kids, I did some research, found the Gund site, read the 'directions' and decided to first try it my way. I asked myself one question...would I let my Grandbaby play with a stuffed animal, Gund or not, that had been played with for several years, then stored in a cardboard box in a basement? The answere to my own question was *No*. At that point I decided that I had nothing to lose. I tossed Mitsey, a favorite of my youngest daughters since she was a wee one, into the washer. Mitsey has no plastic, no beads, nothing but faux fur and soft stuffing. S/he does have real leather paw pads but they are small and not worth a worry. I am happy to say that Mitsey survived the wash and is now hanging over the shower rod in the guest bath, drying. Clean, fresh and ready for more hugs and love. I will wash a few more tomorrow. So thanks, Kids. So far so good. Sooey...See MoreUser
