How do you store your homemade bread?
Comments (18)I never buy bread that comes in plastic bags - when I do buy bread, it comes in paper type bags that are always open at one end. I mostly buy La Brea Bakery bread, but Gelson's has their own bread that they make that is excellent as well. There's a bakery in the mini-mall with my bank, and I buy bread there occasionally as well. They don't have the best selection, and they don't have pumpernickel, which is why I have to make that bread myself. In fact, I need to make more, but I'm going to wait until Monday because DB's birthday is this week-end. Now that I have a good oven, I will be buying less bread. I reuse the plastic bags that I put onions and garlic in, and I store bread in those. Lars...See MoreLong-Term users: How long can you stay on HRT???
Comments (2)Hi sunrisegirl, I've been on combi-patch for about 5 years. I wish I had never started it. I really believe that you do get "addicted" to it. Your body is sooooo used to it, and I'm sure it will miss it lots when you stop it. Can you possibly cut the pill in half for maybe 6 months to a year, and then stop it? I have Fibromyalgia, and unfortunately, my pain and suffering seems intricately related to hormones. The last time I tried to stop my HRT.....well.....lets just say all heck broke loose. My life was horrible. I don't believe I would ever try to stop it cold turkey again. But maybe for a more "normal" person, it could be easier. Can you talk to your Ob/gyn about it? Maybe she would have some good suggestions. And maybe you would get lucky, and not have problems at all. You could give it a try, and always go back on, if you couldn't live without it. But I've discovered that it takes at the very least, 2 months, for hormones to even begin to think about stabilizing, after a change. Good luck to you! :)...See MoreHow long does a dog squeaky toy last ?
Comments (7)Squeaky toys? You gotta be kidding. I think the quickest my pooch ever killed one was about thirty seconds. Doesn't make much difference how expensive they are and I found out most dog toys are purchased to suit the owner's tastes. LOL. He now carries around a stuffed cow. The cow is decapitated, and has one leg left and the grunter and squeaker are long gone. It's also destuffed and the seams are open. IOW the dog carries around a ragged piece of plush fabric in a cow print. He dearly loves squeakers however, so I started making them for him myself out of various fabrics. I seem to do a decent job of putting internal restraints into the squeaker mechanisms and put in numerous ones so that he can kill three of them and it'll still squeak. Sometimes I make them out of canvas, and sometimes just use old socks. Buy the squeakers by the bag....See MoreHow long does a squeaky toy last ?
Comments (19)My parents had a cock a poo who had one toy his whole life, a little stuffed animal that he loved as much as a child loves a special blankie to suck on. I grew up with this dog and thought that's what dogs did. Then, as an adult, I got a jack russell, who destroys all toys. Stuffed animals are meant to be shredded immedialtely and any toy not food related is not interesting. Well, she does dearly love to flip lizards in the air and she has caught some garden moles but otherwise she only has two toys. Stuffed Kongs and stuffed old socks. I take a holey sock and put a bit of meat in it and tie it in a knot. I keep layering socks and meat until I have about a dozen or so socks all stuffed into one another. It makes a big football sized sock that she has to chew through and dig out all the meat. She will suck on those socks for days. Then I either throw them out or wash them for another time. She gets one about every two weeks. If I so much as go down the hall to the linen closet where I keep the clean socks she gets all excited. This works well for us because I wear footies around the house and my feet put holes in the socks quickly. I started saving them for the dogs and I've been doing this now for 5 years or so. They don't like nylabones at all. The other dog, a beagle mix loves tug toys that I play with him....See Morejenathegreat
