The pot is placed a few meters from direct sunlight ==>>> its indoors.. it gets NO direct light ... mostly because there is a window in the way ... and its simply too far from the diffuse light from that window ... the third pic seems to show very good new growth ... why do you say its brown?? ... how about a closer pic ... its going through some stress from moving it from one place to another ... all plants shed older leaves ... annually.. it can be increased due to stresses like moving it ... i think you are on the verge of loving it to death ... try to chill a bit.. and settle in.. and try to get it closer to a window... there is a houseplant forum ... where you can learn all about such ... ken

Looks like over watering. That can happen when the soil doesn't drain fast enough so it retains too much water causing root rot. These plants are semi-epiphytes that usually grow up tree trunks. The roots run down the tree trunks and on the ground run through the leaf litter on the surface. In a humid environment the roots are constantly exposed to air and get moisture from the humidity. During heavy rain the water on them is highly oxygenated but drains almost instantly. When kept in soil care needs to be taken that water drains away from the roots fast and that there is air movement amongst them, ie. a very light, aerated soil.

Hi everyone! I’ve owned my monstera for 2.5 years and I’ve never had any troubles with it. It’s been a great grower and super easy to care for. I moved last month and ever since then it’s been slowly yellowing on the edges and the growth has stopped. Last week it finally warmed up in CA, so I thought maybe it needed some warmth and I put it outside for an hour last week (not in direct sunlight, just under my porch) and the next day I noticed the dark areas on one leaf. I’m assuming the leaf got burned, even though it wasn’t in the direct sunlight? I will also mention that last week I took out some of the old dry soil and replaced it with it new soil (a mixture of MG organic potting soil, peat moss, and perlite. Maybe not the best but It’s all I had on hand at the moment) and some fertilizer (osmocote plus for indoor/outdoor plants). I’m no plant pro, so maybe I gave it too much fertilizer. Maybe too many changes at once? I’m wondering if the leaf will repair itself or if I should be worried that something else might be wrong with it. Thanks so much for your help. This monstera did well for a year, but this week several leaves began to yellow. I had noticed it was rootbound and so repotted into a slightly larger container. It has proper drainage and a well-draining soil mix (the same soil I’ve had it in all year). I have it on the same watering schedule as well. Ideas?!
