Could someone help ID this beautiful rose?
Comments (52)Thank you all for responding to my post! I appreciate all of your help with this rose bush. I do not think it is sexy rexy because I thought it might be that rose, so I ruled it out when I went to a rose show in my area today and saw sexy rexy. In fact, saw two of them and they were too light and too pink to match my rose. I do think this is a grandiflora rose since all roses are in a cluster. I am posting a couple more pictures of my rose to show how it looks when it starts to fade. (when it fades it turns more pink) I also did a petal count on one rose and count was 43. I also am thinking if it is not Camelot it could be Montezuma. I was looking in some old JP catalogs and saw Montezuma and looked very similar. Does anyone else have this rose or Camelot? I am leaning towards Camelot because the shape of the bush looks just like my mom's 50 yr old Queen Elizabeth. The leaves are very large and this bush is very disease resistant. Thanks again for all your help and I have enjoyed reading responses....See MorePlease, help with found beautiful old rose ID..
Comments (15)Definitely NOT Therese Bugnet. Leaves and cane color are not right, and Therese's bloom form is different. I would also vote against much rugosa influence...leaves are not right for rugosa. Looks similar to R. gallica officinalis, except bloom form is not quite the same. But you say this is an immature sucker so perhaps we're not seeing a representative bloom. Gallicas are known for suckering and traveling around quite a bit. Unfortunately, there is a possibility it could be a sucker off an open pollenated seedling of a gallica or damask. I've seen OP gallica seedlings at cnetter's place here in Denver, and they can be all over the place in terms of bloom form and plant structure. You mention "rambler" - is it throwing out long, supple canes, or just suckering underground? A true rambler would be throwing out long, supple canes. Gallicas (and other roses) move around by sending out underground suckers. Do you have a photo of an unopened bud? Nancy...See MoreCan anyone help me ID this BEAUTIFUL ROSE? - I've spent hours
