My first thought was "Maggie", but I don't know about those yellow petal bases. I don't have "Maggie" (yet -- it's coming next week), so hopefully someone who recognizes this and/or knows "Maggie" better than I do can help.

The photos I've seen of Maggie are much more red than my rose. Maggie appears almost cherry red (description says carmine) and mine is definitely a strong PINK - no hint of red except the stamens.

Well, the yellow at the petal bases makes me think it's a modern rose, even if it has the "look" of something older. Then I started to wonder if perhaps it's something bred by Dr. Griffith Buck, who introduced some super-hardy shrub roses that had all sorts of interesting things in their ancestry. Perhaps a look through the roses he bred might find your rose.

has a good amount of thorns - red/brown - you can see them in some of the photos. The main stem bent over this year - caning & lots of secondaries shot out - each with a rose. That one is thick - you can see some of the green secondaries in my photos. Can take more photos of the stems if that helps.

Same color as Best Friend but can't seem to find info on it for the US...looks to only be in AU...?

I'm fairly new to rose gardening but I think this is more like a HT not a shrub rose. There is only one rose per stem and stems are pretty long. I have some shrub roses and they are very different.

I almost thought it was Perfume Delight but info says it's a 4' and mine is already 5' and only beginning it's 3rd growing season.

Not all Hybrid Teas are "one rose per stem", and "shrub rose" is a bit of a catch-all for roses that don't fit in other classifications. Among "shrub roses" you'll find some with large clusters of small blooms, some with small clusters of larger blooms, and some with "one rose per stem". Many modern "shrub roses" are bred with the intention of putting Hybrid Tea blooms on a hardier plant, so you'll see how the lines get blurred there. And many modern Hybrid Teas have Floribundas in their ancestry, so they no longer hold true to the old ideal of "one rose per stem" for exhibiting.

No - the color is right but according to the every rose database PB blooms in clusters - mine only in singles, it has FINE thorns - mine are large, it has 25 petals mine has 40+ petals it gets orange hips & mine does not. Found some closeups and stamens look to be yellow / mine are red. I think mine is either a HT or Bourbon... it's pretty thorny!

I actually thought this was it too aka Best Friend...but the leaves are slightly puckered & fairly shiny and mine are very flat, fairly dull with a yellow vein - doesn't sound attractive but it is. I haven't been able to find a good photo of a mature flower to see if it's curled & loosly formed like mine... will keep looking. Maybe someone who owns Caprice deM will post!

reminds of an antique I once had in FL but the name escapes me have you tried David Austin, it has a few bright pink w yellow center?

I have looked at the Austins but can't quite find one that fits perfectly...it may also be a HT Romantica...?

wow! So Countrygirl_sc does yours have a tiny bit of yellow near where it attaches, red stamens - the pollen on top will be yellow but the stems need to be red.... if so, then I think we may have found it! Here's hoping!

I think it is a HT - only 1 rose per stem and several on this site said they thought it's a modern rose...not antique. I originally thought a bourbon but now think HT - also because it blooms continuously.

Unfortunately I lost the rose several years ago. I found this one picture that I was able to crop so you can see the red stems.

Woo Hoo! I think this must be it. Makes sense because I read in another thread that pink with hints of yellow usually mean "Peace" is in it's ancestry. There is small touch of yellow where petals connect - I can see it in yours too. Thank you so much - you don't know how many hours I've spent eliminating roses trying to figure this out.
