Looking for Hot Pepper for Pickling between (1,000-5000 SHU)
Comments (22)I agree with the HHW and the Jaloro. I'm a big fan of pickled sport peppers. They are smaller and a bit hotter than pepperoncini and grow in abundance. The color is boring as the flavor is best when they are pale green. I grew Wenk's Yellow Hots last summer and they develop a cool pastel yellow while ripening and a beautiful red-orange hue when ripe. great to slice and pickle. Crispy and hot and a Southwest USA heirloom. My final recommendation is the Beaver Dam. It has super crispness and nice heat. Pickled slices of heaven on almost any sandwich. The BD puts on quite a show as it gradually ripens from lime green to deep red. Here is a link that might be useful: Article about Sport Peppers...See MoreDishwasher Recommendations
Comments (4)ANY machine between 400-1,000 will clean your dishes just fine. They will ALL take longer than you're accustomed to and will use less water....which means you'll likely need to be using less detergent. The big deal now with longer cycle-times is quiet. Quiet always costs more. However, there are numerous quiet machines available for under a thousand....See More$1,000 or less...
Comments (7)I've gone through 3 dishwashers in the lifespan of our house - 6 years! Whirlpool, Maytag, and Kenmore. I liked them all about the same. I too was told the lifespan is shorter as dictated by the American consumer. Evidently market research showed people were replacing items after 7 to 10 years anyway, broken or not. Bosch or Miele et al. would be worth it if you could assuredly know you would get 20 years life out of them, but I've heard of those higher end brands breaking down too so I personally don't think it's worth it. I'd rather invest in something that you will get 20 years (and more) out of - like solid wood floor and higher end cabinetry....See MoreBacksplash v.1,000,000: what do you think of this one?
Comments (46)I love the tile! I took home a couple of samples, but none of the colors worked with my countertop. I didn't pick up a 70s vibe, despite my sensitivity to that era (although my memories of people and events are quite happy). I think it might overshadow, literally, your marble, but that's your call. Anything that coordinates with cats is A-OK in my book. But hey, you got your kitties at the Sonoma County Animal Shelter? I got mine last summer at the Sonoma Humane Society. We might be neighbors! I'm in Santa Rosa....See MoreKim Ladin
