Comments (13)dlh and gibby The sink, faucet, tub spout and just hand shower arm (not the bar) are all from Porcelanosa. The handshower bar is Waterworks. I know that seems weird. Waterworks had a huge sale near in our area last spring (can't believe I've had the stuff that long) and I bought a bunch of things before I even knew what we were really doing/look we were planning. However, it had a black handle. So I swapped out the handshower itself. It was still cheaper than buying any of the regular mid-range brands. When I looked at the bar, however, it seemed to go with the shape of the tub spout, so I kept that. Porcelanosa had a huge sale just before Tgiving, so we bought a bunch of other stuff including the master bath tile, yet to be installed. The sink is called Taiga. It can also be purchased as Shira with a vanity. The brand name on the products is Noken, which I guess Porcelanosa bought or they have a partnership. Anyway, I think they are struggling, and fairly disorganized, so if you have a dealer near you, you should be able to get at least 30-40% most products. is the Taiga from by Noken from Porcelanosa. I debated a lot about doing just movable hand shower instead of fixed and movable - does seem kind of redundant - but I know when I shower, I like having the fixed head even if there is a handshower. I did want the handshower in that bath for washing the dog, which I find a real pain without a handshower!...See MoreWhite bath towels - a mistake?
Comments (14)My mother, my sister, and I have nothing but white towels. I think they are so much easier to keep clean than colored towels. Also, we all use hot water and a little bleach to sanitize our towels, washcloths, etc. For washcloths, we buy the big bundles at Costco or Sam's. You get a bazillion for just a few bucks. As the washcloths get stained with make-up, we convert them to cleaning rags. All 3 of us have found however, that if you use the make-up removal washcloth the next day for your bath, the make-up stains much less....See Moreis it crazy to use white bath towels?
Comments (48)Well, apparently you can go back...to RH to exchange towels. Used my brand new Marine Blue RH towels for 2 1/2 days when I noticed some spotting/lighter areas on my face/hand towel. I know they recommend avoiding the use of "personal care products containing Benzoyl Peroxide and Alpha Hydroxy Acids" but thought that my sister had used her RH towels for years without issues and had been using a face-wash containing AHA's. Also, I really thought RH was merely "covering it's a**" (as clothing and other manufactureres often do in/on their care instructions, and RH's list of no-no's for their towels does seem a bit excessive). I thought that as long as I rinsed my hands and face very well after using my Dr. prescribed products, the towels should hold up fine. Not the case, as evidenced by those splotches that appeared after a mere 2 1/2 days of use. RH was wonderful, let me exchange the towels for white ones without a hassle (I have never had a problem with white towels, maybe someday I'll try some other make of blue towels). They assured me at the store that I could use bleach with these despite the laundry list of care instructions (I always use bleach for whites, and prefer not having to do two separate loads for whites). FYI, they recommended washing their colored towels with vinegar prior to use to prevent fading/running (wish I'd known about that when we'd gotten their Espresso towels--bought them because they were the darkest brown ones we'd seen. Ours are fine, they're still dark and look terrific, but they might've remained like-new dark after an initial was with vinegar). Anyway, they said to wash the towels with 1 cup vinegar and cold water--NO detergent, and then follow with two wash cycles with cold water only, NO detergent (to remove any lingering vinegar odor). This is supposed to help the towels retain their color (they also said it would help with spotting, but would not prevent or completely prevent spotting from the AHA's and Benzoyl Peroxide). So, I am back to white towels, at least in the MB, which is the one I use. Maybe my hesitance to fully embrace the blue towels (which I'd wanted all along for the MB) was my subconscious telling me I'd have problems with them, and I was really meant to remain a white towel girl! LOL!!! (Since DH doesn't use any products containing AHA's/BP, I think we can keep more colorful towels in the hall bathroom without any problem--at least, I hope so!)...See MoreRustic guest bathroom finished! Comments (20)Artemis - surprisingly, I haven't had any issues keeping these towels white and I've had them for about 3-4 years. A bright pink item actually snuck into my last load of white towels (which streaked everything pink!) and just one wash with Oxy whitener made them bright white again. They're Charisma towels from Costco so not a great expense to replace if needed. Sheeisback - thanks! I agree about the ivory. The yellow seems okay in person but not quite right in the pictures....See Morecmm1964
