Local grocery store selling pickled quail eggs
Comments (9)You don't need 'ammunition' talk to the store manager about this issue. Just pick up the phone or speak to him/her when you are in the store and ask them to give you some information on their new product. Come right out and ask about the product's legitimacy since you think it's home-canned. Believe me, no store want's their customers worried about food safety, and they usually bend over backward to put a damper on any question about it. I am also from Ohio and many of our markets carry specialty products now from smaller, local producers. I like that trend, myself. They are as you said, often jarred to look home canned, on purpose because it implies it's as good as home canned. If you are not convinced after talking to the manager, do as the previous poster says and call your health department. In my state, there are products truely home canned, but it requires a license to do it and they're inspected like any other facility....See MoreI tried three new recipes today...
Comments (7)Sunday is my day to cook, so if Im going to try a new recipe, it is usually on Sunday. Today I made an agrodolce cabbage with sausages (veggie italian ones for me), which was good, but too hot since the recipe called for too many hot pepper flakes, IMHO. Ill make it again but without all the pepper. Then I improvised something I had been wanting to make for a while, macaroni with cheese and butternut squash. I had seen several recipes for it but they all seemed too bland to me. So I made a cheese sauce with a bunch of cheese I had that was going moldy, (I cut off the moldy parts!), added dried mustard, lemon pepper and bouquet garni seasoning to the sauce, plus some of my slow cooker onions, and then mixed in a 1O oz. package of butternut squash puree. Topped with seasoned bread crumbs and baked at 375 for 3O min. If I do it again I will grease the casserole dish and not cook at as high a heat. The sauce made a crust on the bottom of the pan. Not burned, but a little too crunchy for my taste. Otherwise, delish. Another good way to make this might be to grate fresh butternut squash into the dish before baking. I dunno, the frozen squash was dead easy!...See MoreSecond Try - Have Any of You Tried Just Egg or Impossible Burger Yet?
Comments (22)Eeew. You can have your thrills, but the disgusting truth is "IT'S PEOPLE!!!" Thanks for identifying the product. I know gamers who do the can't move eyes to eat zombie stare. They usually have some peripheral actual human beings who shove one handed food at them. Coders are more likely to get up to stretch, go to the bathroom and grab something to eat. They have chicklet mats that cover keyboards so you can still use them which help with the the Rule of NRITK (no ramen in the keyboard), sometimes spelled NRIK, pronounced "nerk" or by some purists "nert'k". A pasty sad lot, the bunch of them. I can imagine that they like to pretend their meal replacement goo really is people. :(...See MoreTried 2-Ingredient Banana Pancakes Today
