Oh no, I broke the crown!
Comments (15)I wouldn't totally give up. I was having to move an iris that was crowding Barbara Mitchell, back in May. Somehow, the shovel just slid over & I sliced right into Barbara, cutting the top off of half the clump. The crown was cut into, but I really thought it was going to be ok. It was, it started growing & bloomed this summer. Not great, the blooms were smaller & shorter than the half I didn't cut into, but I was surprised. The foliage didn't look like it had any crown on it, but there must have been just enough. I put it in water just as an experiment. It grew roots. It did ultimately die, my own fault because I just planted it next to the rest of the clump when I thought it had enough roots. I should have potted it up & babied it a bit. I was just surprised that it did that much....See MoreOh my! oh my! I have a pair of Blues house hunting!!!!
Comments (6)Thanks Lisa!! First thing I did this morning when I got up was to go to the window to see if they were at the box and they were! They were there for about an hour and a half when I had to take dd to school. They weren't there when I got back but showed back up again around 9:30, now I haven't seen them since. They had both been going in the box, once I saw them both go in the box together too which I figured was a good sign. I am not freaking out yet that they went somewhere else, well yes I am but I am not admitting it. LOL! I recall last year when we got a pair of Blues in mid June that they took forever to get settled. Last year I saw them on a Monday and then the female was MIA for the next five days however the male stayed around singing his heart out. Then the female showed back up and two days later started building a nest. So I am hoping they have chosen this box and right now are just relaxing a bit until they are ready to get down to business again. DOnna...See MoreOh my gosh, oh my gosh...I am floating on air....
Comments (13)1Kgrace345, I kept going back and forth pondering over getting a Presto canner or the All American...I really could have gotten the Presto many years earlier, but I wanted to save my money and just wait. I have two mirro canners that I have had since I was married in 1970 that my grandmother gave to me that she used and they were literally falling apart. The handles were gone, and they no longer had handles to replace them, so I was having to lift the pot by the hot metal...last year I burned my hand really bad...but I kept on canning. I just bought those new gloves made out of well, what ever that is...my brain just backfired...I hate when that happens...darn it. My husband (behind my back) took them both to the dump...that made me really MAD because they were my grandmothers, and I would have like to have kept them for old times sake, anyways. But, he bought me this new one today..and I just about had a flying flip when he said we were going to town to get one...I got ready faster than lighting! I understand how you would still feel like you were a proud parent of your All American, lkgrace!! LOL If my husband wasn't looking at me on the way home I would have petted mine...LOL!!!...See MoreOh my gosh... the flexibility.... Oh my!
