Since you're still in the "build" mode,you can also consider using CFL's (compact flourescent bulbs) to save energy. If you think the light will be harsh, you can now get CFL's that are dimmable. They are pretty new to the market so you might have to look around for them. You can probably find them more easily online. I forgot to say this to you yesterday as to WHY the diamond pattern of the lights works better over a table. It pulls the lights in closer to the table so that the entire light wash is directed onto the table. And that's another reason I used the large eyeballs, so that the light is directed onto the table. However, cans would do the same thing if you use the diamond placement. I think 2 cans in the walkway will be great. I have a large foyer with 2 cans in it. Talk about LIGHT. I personally like groupings of odd #'s. I think it also depends how many watts your recessed cans are and are they dimmable? It looks like you have lots of sunlight coming in from the windows & PD for day light. I would move the pendants a little closer to the sink just because of head room and sink lighting. I would go with more lights, just because you can always turn some off if it's too much but can't change it if it's not enough! Is your buffet lighted? Would you want a can above it to show off you stuff? How about the apposite wall, are you going to have something there like a painting/wall art to show off? If so, you could go with 3 & 3. I like that you have cans in the walk way and hall entrance.

My beds are all 36 inches wide or less, and I have plenty of perennials and annuals in them. It really can be done. :) Perennials I have had in them for 3+ years (counting this year): Penstemon mexicali Veronica Sunny Border Blue Day lilies Hydrangea Mini Penny Scabiosa Foxglove Gaura lindheirmeri Salvia Heatwave Dahlias Asiatic lilies (they spread but can be moved) Garden phlox Columbine Balloon flower Coreopsis Dianthus Blanketflower Spiderwort (in shadier conditions) Newer ones Perennials (1-2 years): Gladiolus Shasta Daisy Penstemon Red Husker Canterbury Bells Now, I am not sure how these would work with your sun/shade and the brick wall...but, I have had no issues with these guys in my 24-36 inch wide boxes. It looks like you have a plan, but I wanted to throw these out. :)

I love all the elements! Gorgeous bed!!! Do you have large French doors that open up directly from your bedroom to your dining room? I'm guessing no. Not everyone will agree with what I am going to suggest and even did in my own house. My master bedroom and en-suite pretty much look like they could belong in another home :o That's ok with us! It's a private area and there is an alcove between it and the adjoining room. It's a totally different and lighter palette. The ensuite color palette was inspired by the sea and beaches of our Caribbean cruises. The bedroom is fairly calm and nondescript but the use of cool sea tone blue-greens wash into the bedroom...it's the least decorated room in the house but I like it decluttered and calm. The rest of the house is more dramatic, rich colors, warm palette of browns, wheat, burnished pumpkin, gold, black, green, plum, bronze (and wildlife in the form of hunting trophies). Lots of texture. It's our choice. It's our house :) And when I'm ready I can leave all that (that I love btw) and retreat to my sea toned, sparse, spa like oasis :) What I'm trying to say is...it's ok for your master suite to be different if that's what you want (imo) :) L.O.V.E that bed!
