Best wall color to go with brick fireplace
Comments (5)I disagree with red. Too often the brick, which usually has a lot of brown, can clash if directly next to the brick. Since colors can vary on monitors, I would look at a color wheel, find the color that most goes with your brick color and start looking color schemes. If it's a red brick with heavy browns, try looking at greens with brown tones. If it's an orangy brick, look more toward blues. It also depends on what your final goal is. Do you want the brick to "pop" or do you want it to "disappear". What about your furniture? Are you going to keep the cream colored drapes or replace them? If I were you, I would hammer out the fabric and furniture first and pick your paint color last. I have done it backwards before, painted the color and then tried to get things to "go" with it, but I could never get it all just right. Comments (41)Oh I'm so sorry if I seemed negative. That wasn't my intention at all. I worried after posting that I had been clumsy with my wording. I think the painting is very pretty; the colors seem great; love the frame, and the softness of the painting. The only minor thing that caught my eye was the large brownish flower, a shade that makes me think of dried or wilted flowers. But I'm a plant/flower fiend, so that's a personal problem! Honestly, I was just trying to say that if you're on the fence about it, I wouldn't keep it. Not because everything needs to be sentimental or historical or original, but because you'll see it every day, and you want something that brings a smile to your face for one reason or another. If it will do that, great! If it won't, the wall can always wait until you find something that will. I couldn't tell from your post whether you loved it or not. What you've done so far, including the painting, already makes it feel lighter and is a great improvement. I appreciate your posting the photos and look forward to more!...See MoreBest wall color with dark pallet wall and fireplace update
Comments (4)ok,,but can't we see the room? I understand the pallet wall isn't in yet, but it would be nice to see the actual room layout. whats on the floor? what furniture is in there? hows the lighting? lets see the actual fireplace in the basement. BTW, I love this black fireplace you've done in your living room. great colors. If I may make one suggestion? remove that white mantle, it's too traditional looking, and replace w/a wood one stained dark like your pallet colors something like this. this wood looks way better than that white something around this size (if you could find a nice piece of walnut, it'd be perfect) Here,,I photoshopped it for you so you can see and more of a reclaimed piece...See MoreWhat color to paint a huge fireplace surround??
Comments (9)Vistas Interior Design, thank you so much. The [photo[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/forest-avenue-modern-family-room-orlando-phvw-vp~2100924) you linked to looks beautiful. I never would've considered this possibility. That approach would shift the focus to whatever art, etc. we decide to decorate with. Houssaon, that's another extremely interesting suggestion--hanging a painting with some green would incorporate the green tiles in a way we might like. This is perhaps the easiest solution of all and it wouldn't require us to re-paint the tiles! Thanks! Sophie, I really appreciate the warning. We are inexperienced and will definitely proceed with great caution....See Morelkhorn
