what a crock! any ideas?
Comments (30)Kirk - just saw this on eBay - see even the small Red Wing Pottery goes for a good price. It's up to $34 (with the shipping). Keep an eye on this piece and see what it sells for in the end. Do you mean the small crock with the wrap I made (from Create & Decorate mag) on it - there are no markings on it. None on the little bit larger one in the back on that stool also (the one that's two toned). I just wanted some crocks as a country display so picked these up. I was looking for unusual shapes and colors....See MoreCarrots In Crock Pot Are Flavorful But Tough!
Comments (9)If you cut carrots lengthwise into halves or quarters (depending on the size of the carrot), then cut to the length you want for serving, it exposes the tough center fiber to the cooking liquids, or steam, and they will cook quicker and be more tender. I agree with everyone about so-called "baby carrots", but mostly dislike them because they are a big rip-off in the cost department and dislike their "interesting" flavor. For every extra pair of hands it takes to manufacture a product or the more processed it is from the original, you'll get to pay more for it. Just where do you get a carrot shaper (and does it look like a pencil sharpener - but for carrots) and a sander for them? The shaping and "buffing" will certainly cause these carrots to lose nutrients. -Grainlady Here is a link that might be useful: Carrot and Shtick...See MoreIn the market for a new slow cooker (Crock Pot)
Comments (32)Pfmastin, below is the link to Amazon's page for Nesco's. Which one did you buy? I have a question. My old crockpot has the "circular" elements in it and it never browned chicken. How does the roaster brown meat when the condensation drips down on it from the lid? Although most of the reviews are good, many say it's too hot on the outside & you can burn yourself. How does that help keep the kitchen cooler? I'd love to bake a chicken in there and have it crisp up! And is the 6 qt. big enough for a large chicken?...See MoreLosing her drawers ;)
Comments (12)I use a lot of 10x6x4 inch plastic baskets and plate or extendable plate storage racks. 2 baskets fit comfortably on top of the extendable one. I use the baskets for extra things like extra spices and small things like jello or pudding packets, but a couple would also hold tea towels and pot holders and dish cloths. Underneath the shelf I store storage bags and saran and stuff. The regular plate rack allows me to store baking pans in a small space. Mt 9x13 pans go on the bottom and they hold my 9" pans and smaller ones. On top I have my roumd pans and pie plates. I'm a great fan of these shelves they not only give me extra room but keep things organized. She might consider putting her cooking utensils in a decorative pot on the counter and dividing off a portion of the second drawer for the little gadgets and using the remainder for tea towels....See Moregrainlady_ks
