My 2 mi energy walk led to firewood work and a Squirrel’s
challenge!! I know they are in the wood
and expect them to head for the power line above when I get too close. Well I got too close and was too high off the
ground (6’+) to back off. The squirrel
let me know I was too close by making a quick showing and going back into the
wood (probably due to young squirrels).
Close to that spot I gave some Good Pounding, Very Loud “Choice Words”,
Knowing I Could Not Run Or Fight. “The
Squirrel Believed Me”! My goal was to
throw all the newer wood lower (ground or empty row vs going up there again. I was able to throw out the older and in the
newer that should balance out this season.

With limited space, I finally realized I could stack a
limited amount of newer wood on 4X4s and flooring above the seasoned wood being
burned, to minimize some of the transition at the end of the season. I consider my stored wood as 3 cords (approx
2 rows 24’ long, 4’ high) in our old 4’ wide garden space (backed to a 10’
fence. That leaves a center space
between rows that I fill and the squirrels love (and where “all” our pecans
went). I simply move 12-16 “of wood down
rotating wood which makes a world of differences restocking (except for my
shoulders).

I have found working wood is as good as a good 2 mi walk but
walking is consistent 5 week days and wood is as needed. 20 years ago that Squirrel would have been on
defense vs me. LOL!

I used a hoe to slowly pull the wood
on the ground on the right away (from where it came from). The wood on the left end should have been
burned last winter. Both batches and all
over a year old will be burned in 2-3 weeks (oldest first).

Re stocking is well on the way
since I have at least a 3rd cord of Pecan in my trailer. It will
have to be green wood and close for me to bring any restocking until I see what
I need.

A little research showed Squirrels
reproduce Feb-Apr and Aug-Sept as when 2 litters (2-5) are expected. I’ll work away from the almost stocked right
end (that I think could be trouble now).

I am anxious to see inside my 14”
ID Chimney Pipe due to burning less than a year old Red Oak trying to hold some
colds overnight (choking off as much air as I have control of).

Separating the Seasons is becoming Challenging. LOL I
am getting my best rest “Now” since I have All Morning to get My Energy Walk (2
mi X 5 Days) and Chores Done (3 days 2-3 hrs of real work). Since my 03 retirement, I almost feel like I
retired due to projects I saved until retirement

Hi everyone my name is Kim and I am a 36 year old mother of 2 very active boys 11 & 7. I work for an elementary school doing tech support for their 130 or so computers and printers. I walk alot somedays and other days not so much. I have been overweight most of my life and still battle it each day. I am 5' 7" and weigh 183 now and at one time weighed 240. I have hopped from one diet to another never really finding anything that worked miracles. Only through healthy eating and regular exercise was I able to achieve weightloss of any kind. I stumbled across this forum on accident by search for Leslie's tapes and really really liked it sooo. I joined. I just received her tapes from Half.com for $19 (which didn't come with any extras just the set of tapes). I did the 2 mi this morning with just plain hand weights and really enjoyed it. There are so many wonderful and encouraging stories on this page I couldn't stop reading it. I really look forward to reading more of them. It really is good to know that I am not the only one who struggles with water intake, food temptations and exercising struggles. Please keep writing. I am really excited to start this program and I hope I can be as determined as you all.

Thank you, cyn, and thanks to everyone for your kind prayers and energies... Here's an update: acc. to her DH, J. is moving in the right direction every day, evidently not hurting anywhere near as much, is back walking a bit, and if she keeps improving (it's a *long*, tricky process) over the next couple of days will get put on "the 5-day process" and then back home. Not sure what that last part means but I don't want to bother him. Basically, the direction of change is now positive. Heparin is a really tricky drug...I remembered that when I had my MI, I got clots in the vein in my arm where the heparin drip had been. Luckily, it was a superficial rather than a deep vein, so for some reason it either just dried up as a vein and my body worked around it (my memory is foggy but I do remember the hand guy saying something like that) or the clots resolved themselves without any help. But I remember the discomfort from just having clots in that small size vessel. And DD is pretty much back to normal -- the county and the camp have now decided to *close* the camp for now and investigate further, so no one else gets sick, because another group of campers who came in after us, *senior citizens* (for whom such a virus could be very serious--although any seniors who could go camping in central Oregon are probably tougher than I'll ever be : )), got sick too. Interesting to see public health at work. I'm just happy that DD wasn't nicknamed "barf girl" or anything when she went back on Friday : )

ewwmayo lol! gosh I was too lazy to crop the pot out and now that's the first thing that's commented on! haha. rina Naah I've only felted twice, I still have some felt left over! I'm hoping it is happy...a sweatered cactus.. Daniel -Totally not practical... : ) It's a felted "pot cover" that I felted and tugged over the clay pot inside. Always have to be pull it out of the way when I'm watering. And I made the pot way too small so the poor cactus doesn't have room to grow. (I know cacti like to have a smallish pot for their roots to sort of reach out against...but even with that in mind I know this pot is claustrophobically small) I haven't made any other felted pots but they're definitely cute decor. For things that don't need water.. lol. mintylemonade- I definitely take things too literally sometimes.

Looks like I never updated my progression after July, so here's the rest of the year, now that frost is upon us: April 29: May 3: May 17: May 26: June 4: July 15: July 27: August 20 (After a large branch smashed it pretty badly during a storm): September 16: October 13: Since houzz won't let me put any more photos in this post, I think I'm done for the year. It's all over but the cutting back, anyway. It was a bad year for deer and a lot of plants got munched before they bloomed. With that and the endless cycle of rain and heat in our area, the garden wasn't looking it's best. But I still had bloom from March through at least November (assuming all the blooming plants don't suddenly die in the next four days) and that's not bad for a still novice gardener! I am excited for the thousand bulbs I planted in my little patch of woodland to come up next spring, and I know I will be digging and rearranging the front yard in the spring, too. I have really enjoyed everyone's progressions, and am very inspired to keep "biggering" my garden!

I see two young Squirrels chasing each other over the
firewood and Etc.. I hope that is it and
the Mama will allow me to finish pulling /burning the old and start restocking. Most restocking is on hand, Red & Live
Oak, Ash, Pecan and 1/8th cord of Mesquite (as above or close).

Plus, some is almost a year old that need
splitting in my 3 cord rotation (for two winters). The splitter needs testing of brass shims and
mod added to the traveling push block on Cyl.
I traded some Pecan for Mesquite
to challenge Smoking/Grilling some Chicken and Chicken/Beef Fajitas.

Time is moving too fast for me Friends. I can not get through a good project w/o a
memory issue that have all been safe vs frustrating. Take care! The Spring Storms are on Us This

We heard two loud booms and
our power went down Thursday. Yesterday
I was getting a wheel barrel load of wood for our small needs now. A Squirrel was lying on the ground dead by
the electrical pole on the right end. I
feel that is what caused the booms.

What causes the “Loud Boom” when
the fuse is blown vs a transformer? This
is a yearly event on our side of the street.
I feel when we are upgraded as others on an as needed basis this will
solve squirrels and trees causing loss of power.

The upgrade involves
enclosing the 3 hot wires into one closed cable that is to protect the hot
wires from shorting. They worked over to
our street and stopped before upgrading us.
A Tech said they are working according to what there monitoring system
is showing. We are past the 7 years that
they butcher our trees close to the wires and the need is present.
