Von~ Love your puppy story. Am going to forward it to my husband at work. We have idiot dogs, but nothing can top what a puppy will do. Alicate~ For years the deer used to eat most of the few hosta varieties that I had, as well as daylily and sedum flowers. I read somewhere that deer left sedum and daylilies alone. What dope wrote that? They are on most garden lists of deer favorites. August Moon, which looks like lettuce to me, was their clear favorite, of the 7 or so multiples that used to be in front. I dug them all out and added dozens of newer hostas to a new island garden a few years ago. Used deer net and 6' bamboo stakes. All went well the first autumn. Bought more hostas, and then more, and expanded the netted area, since I now have 4 island gardens and border gardens. I left a small hole for me to slip through that was hidden near shrubs. They found it, and ate August Moon, all hosta flowers, all daylily and sedum flowers. Tried one deer repellant, it didn't work (they rammed the fence and ate more daylilies, hosta flowers, sedum, and August Moon.) I read about Liquid Fence, and the copycat recipes. It helps a lot. But in the autumn the deer get crazy, ram the net, tearing big holes, snap the stakes, and come for the billions of acorns that litter my yard. Don't know why you guys like oak trees so much. The damage from acorns rivals that from a small hail storm, although the hosta season is pretty much over by October. By now, I've stupidly added lots of fragrant varieties, since I love, love, love the delicious fragrance. The deer obviously do also, and eat the fragrant flowers and leaves, any other late hosta flowers, and of course, the sedum, which keep growing no matter how many times it is eaten. Not interested in August Moon any more. Mostly they want the acorns. But they eat the fragrant leaves and flowers as desert. If I didn't have the net, I wouldn't have ANY hostas, so it is worth the aggravation. I spray the plants and net, and usually have only small problems until the fall, mostly with the flowers. But all bets are off when the deer want to get at the big acorn buffet that is my front yard. ~Bunnycat

Well, they finally had a story on the news, never mentioned Fallon. They said it was 70 miles east of Reno, like Fallon doesn't exist. It's a small town but not that small anymore. Heck, Top Gun moved there years ago from California. They said two people died, lots injured. Hope they were seriously injured. I always wanted to take a cross country train trip but then I hear about these accidents.

It amazes me that so many people who have never seen the show can pass their own judgment on Jon and Kate. They listen to the tabloid shows and decide what they think. That's like me thinking the National Enquirer has all their facts right. What strikes me as strange is all the talk on tv about Jon and Kate and how awful they are for putting the kids in front of the camera, when the TV personalities, in front of the camera are the dip sh*t's making all the made up and mean comments. They are stoking the fire so to speak. I don't know how these idiot's can sleep at night making up things about everyone they can think of. The lies people hear daily and BELIEVE makes me angry. Guess it wouldn't be the American way if the Gossliens had a show and the newscrackers left them alone. I may not know the true story behind the story but I bet a great deal of the time I know when the so called TV newscrackers are pulling one on me. Don't you just feel it??! The more lies, the more intense the story the more people eat it up. I couldn't live with a job like that.. Even if Jon and Kate are screwing up their marriage, the way the tabloid shows whine and lie, the morality and integrity of the these jerks, makes me want to throw my tv away. If the tables were turned and Jon and Kate started telling lies about the celeb newscrackers, there would be helk to pay. It's all a one way street because the talk shows know they have the power to retaliate. Even on the kt Jon and Kate threads, made up so called facts are the norm. For example,,Kate doesn't ever do anything with her kids. If you watch the show, she is most likely the instigator of the things the kids do. And she is doing it with them because they are the kids and there are eight of them! I can see some people being jealous of all the things Jon and Kate and the kids get for free but I see that on every show. These people get publicity for their products being on the show. Can you imagine, give some curvy houses to the show and wala, 30 thousand calls wanting to know more about them! Do you really think they are doing this out of the goodness of their widdle business hearts? Kate did say they were donated too. And she thanked them! Kate really blew it with Jon. She should be strong for the kids but she can't be telling him how he should be all the time. If they could have found a way to have more time together alone, walking a beach, just enjoying each other, the out come might be completely different. I really don't know though..(Like Jon said about 40 times last night.)
