need expert advice re: Royal Icing/glaze

want to embellish my Christmas choc espresso shortbread cookies with a drizzle of coffee glaze --the royal icing I use is made with meringue powder & warm water--if I subbed coffee for the water would it still firm like regular Royal Icing ?
