Comments (16)I somehow stopped receiving notifications for the last few posted comments but thanks for the input! Here's an update on the colors I've chosen. So the door is an ivory color, trim color is consistent with the rest of the house. My question now is whether I should paint the immediate trim around the glass beside the front door (side lights..?) the same ivory color? The contrast between the trim and door color is a little more stark than I expected and wonder if this will help the eye transition better. If anyone has any pictures of what this should look like it would be greatly appreciated! By the way, it's not shown here but I've also painted the house number sign the same ivory color and the numbers match the trim color. I was hoping this would help with the contrast a little....See MoreNeed help choosing paint color for my front door.
Comments (14)I think you have to take certain things into account when choosing a door color and ask yourself, do you want it to be a reflection of your personality, or do you want it to be what everyone expects? With that said, is there an HOA that limits self expression? What region do you live in, and whats acceptable? So, anyone could sit here and say, red, yellow, blue, purple or whatever. It can be whatever you chose it to be, as you really have a neutral base. You can go wherever the wind blows you. Have fun with it!!! I'm sure anything color will be awesome, as you have a beautiful home with lots of curb appeal.....See MoreNeed help choosing new front door for remodel
Comments (3)A door like this would look good. Or a solid door with sidelights. I would look into having pored concrete front steps. I think the natural rise is 7 inches, so you only need two. See the two above pictures the landing is below the threshold of the door. So your first step would be down 7 inches, then a step for another 7 inches then to the pavement for the final 7 inches. If your drop is less than 21 inches, then each riser would be less. If it is mor you will have to add another step. The other alternative is to build a deck about 7 inches (or less) below the threshold and then build steps to the side of the deck to meet up with the walk. If you do board and batten, just do the front side where the door is and leave the rest of the front lap siding. I think it will look strange to have the front one way and the sides another. This way it looks like a feature....See MoreDYH
