Looking to install a water softener in new home construction, and could use some input!
My plumber has been pushing for me to consider a saltless water conditioner (NuvoH2O). I know it doesn't actually soften water, and I'm skeptical that it would be sufficient for the water in my city (water quality report indicates 21.9 gpg).
I'm pretty sure that a traditional salt softener would be most effective (unless someone can convince me otherwise!). I'm considering the Fleck 5600SXT, but I need some help in calculating the correct capacity.
My city's water quality report can be found here: https://www.torranceca.gov/PDF/WaterQualityReport.pdf
I'm planning on testing the quality of water on site ASAP.
diameter of plumbing = 1"
# of people = 2 adults, 3 young children
# of bathrooms = 3
chlorine (important) = 1.6 ppm
sodium = 205 mg/l
arsenic = .5 pub
manganese = 28 ppb
pH = 7.9
TDS = 467 ppm
Hardness = 21.9 gpg
Is the Fleck 5600SXT a worthwhile purchase? Any thoughts on appropriate capacity? Any additional information or suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks!
