My husband set up a rain barrel behind the house after we moved in over 6 years ago. It does save money and water when he waters the gardens during the Summer! Since we live in Ohio, we do not totally empty the barrel too many times over a summer.

I’ve had a plastic rain barrel for a couple years that i bought from Amazon. i needed one because there’s an area on my porch where the gutters overflow. There’s a screen on top where the water enters. No worries about leaves or mosquitoes. My one mistake was not putting it on a platform. The spigot is too low to easily use. Once the water is in, the barrel is too heavy to move. Southern California is on water rationing this summer, so I’ll make it a goal to use up the water
