I saw that, and I'm concerned because two of my three cats are outside during the day. The third cat, Peachy, doesn't tolerate them, so it's easiest to handle it this way. The two come in at night, and one of them comes in occasionally when Peachy is hanging out in the attic. If I brought the two indoors permanently I'd have to sequester Peachy upstairs, which would be a royal nuisance. I'm considering it though. One of my in-and-out cats would love being indoors, although I suspect it would take a lot of adjustment for him to be in all the time. The other one can't wait to go back outside in the morning, so that's another story. The two cats mentioned on the news reside in different parts of NY State. I don't know where they are, but we're not far from NYS.

Hey there. Excuse me for hi-jacking your thread, but I could not figure out a way to email you. I have an issue with laundry and soft water. In a later post of yours I have seen that you have/used to have a water softener device for feeding your laundry machine. Now, I have a laundry machine with soft water technology (i.e. alike a dishwasher softening the water through a salt chamber) for which indeed I can use about half of the indicated detergent. However, sweat smell in armpit section of t-shirts, shirts etc. won't be properly washed out and will quickly restart to smell after wearing a freshly washed item. A clue what the problem could be (the soft water, detergent residue for bacterial growth base = not well enough rinsed from the detergent, washing cycle design, etc.)? Thank your for your experience and possible clues!

The normal 'go to' remedy for fungal infections is a fungicide. Bayer makes a very effective 3-in-1 product which includes Imidacloprid as a systemic insecticide, Tebuconazole as a systemic fungicide, and Tau-fluvalinate as a miticide. It can be used on indoor plants, but the application by spraying must be done outdoors where the plant should stay until the treatment dries. I treat all my plants prophylactically with 2-3 sprayings at 2 week intervals before I bring them in come fall night temps below 50*. Bayer makes 2 different products labeled '3-in-1', so be careful what you buy if you use it. The 'other' 3-in-1 product is nowhere near as effective. See it here. About the spots: When light energy over-excites molecules, as the molecules return to their normal state O- free radicals are released as oxygen splits into single atoms with unpaired electrons. Electrons like to be in pairs, so these free radicals are quick to 'find' other electrons so they can become a pair. This very quickly causes oxidation of the nearest organic molecules, which does irreversible damage to affected cells/ proteins/ DNA. The O- free radicals in H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) which are responsible for rapid oxidation and bleaching of hair are exactly the same as the O- free radicals. The pigment chlorophyll is a favored target of free oxygen radicals. The silver or tan appearance of sunburned area that eventually turn black or brown (depending on how much moisture is in the damaged part of the leaf) is the result of the destruction of chlorophyll. While your plant isn't suffering from sunburn, it was exposed to the same free radicals of oxygen that do the damage in sunburn cases. Chlorophyll absorbs light closer to the red and blue ends of the spectrum and reflects light toward the middle of the spectrum, so green light waves. When it's destroyed, other pigments become expressive in the area of the damage. In this case you're seeing expression red/ purple pigment, most likely anthocyanin. All that says nothing about the red sap/ latex, however. How that might be is above my pay grade. Al

The centered light was installed with the idea, most likely, the entire space would be living room. I would remover the flush mount and replace with a recessed light. What if you put the dining area in the front of the room, with a banquet style bench under the window. Install a proper chandelier. (It's not hard...the electrician will snake a wire). The back of the space becomes your living area...with two solid walls, a sectional will work well. Wall decor will be important: If you want to continue having the small round table is important to you, then do it. How about a wall hung t v in that mix?
