NYFW has become a joke
Comments (169)I'm sure she weighs significantly less than her 'ideal' wt on those ideal wt charts I am not even sure about that...I tend to be within my ideal weight range, but at the upper end of "healthy" and twice, when I veered toward the lower end of ideal, people asked me if I was having health problems, one time stress, the other time if I had cancer. On the other hand I was temporarily on a medication that made me gain weight and I was halfway between the lowest end of clinically overweight and the lowest end of obese. (this is a range of thirty lbs at my height. A number of women I work with told me I "was finally starting to look 'healthy' and 'a normal weight for my age'. " I think our perceptions are really somewhat skewed....See MoreAmazon Prime shipping
Comments (40)Deliveries that go the "final mile" via USPS have been a problem for the past couple of years in my neighborhood. Lots of complaints from lots of us about missing, mis-delivered, marked as delivered but not for 3-4 more days, "no one home", "unable to access" etc etc. Mail and packages found dropped in yards and streets. Even had an incident where certified mail from the IRS was delivered into a mailbox-- the wrong mailbox, not signed for by wrong homeowner (or the intended recipient obviously), but somehow it had been signed for according to USPS. We have been told that it is because our neighborhood is used for "training". Seems like little training and less supervision to me. I have a package - live plants (not ordered from Amazon) - that made it from CA to the FedEx facility, in a nearby suburb, Friday mid afternoon. According to the tracking, it departed that facility Friday evening -- to where I don't know! Once before I had a package that made it to that facility, then next showed up in northern Indiana, before returning to town 3 days later....See MoreTV Antennas - who has them and do you recommend them?
Comments (29)Antennas are getting cheaper (and probably better). This one says it has up to a 120 mile range. I bought a more expensive one at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago for our house in Cathedral City because I don't want to put cable there, although I will be hooking up internet service there on Wednesday. We got more than enough channels, and the Palm Springs metro area only has a population of about 350,00 (Coachella Valley). We have both cable and antennas in Los Angeles, and most of the channels we get from antennas are not even available on cable, although less than half of them are in English. I had to set up my TV so that only the channels I like are shown on the menu, but that still amounts to over 40 channels. We can get about 200 channels with an antenna, but as I said, most of them are not in English. In Palm Springs, most of them are in English with only a handful of Spanish channels. In L.A., they are in multiple Chinese languages (including Taiwanese), Tagalog, Armenian (about 8), Vietnamese, Cambodian, Japanese, etc. Unfortunately we don't get them in European languages that I can actually understand (besides Spanish), such as German, Italian, and French, but I do think we get a Russian channel, of which I can understand only a portion. I'm thinking of getting rid of cable here, as it would save me $60 a month, and that seems like an expense I can do without. Kevin has agreed to this. I'll probably cut the cord later this month....See MoreLooking for a New Netflix or Amazon Prime Series to Watch
Comments (101)I admit watching good TV is one of my favorite hobbies, and I look forward to checking out these recommendations. I second Episodes with Matt Lablanc. I also loved Enlightened on HBO with Laura Dern, quirky character and heartwarming. I also enjoyed Jimmy Carter Rock n Roll President on Netflix (I'm a Georgian) and the documentary Crip Camp, a great story about birth of disability rights movement....See MoreJasdip
