Last one I had was a S&S item they said the supplier didn't have in stock but would ship as soon as possible. You should contact them to check. When mine are delayed they have always offer a free month of Prime and push back my Membership date a month.

I’m on my sisters prime, so I don’t pay for it. Just glad I don’t have anything coming that I need right away. Oh, wait, I do need one item before next Thursday. Hope it comes by then.

Sometimes they run out of stock, whether it's a marketplace partner, fulfilled by Amazon, or Amazon as the seller. Did you check if they were running down before ordering? It will say so, as azline mentioned.

I had the opposite experience this week. Ordered two items on two different days. At check out, it said each time- would you like it tomorrow instead of the normal two day Prime shipping? I checked yes and both came the next day.

Hmm, that does make it a bit trickier but I'd still contact them. They can also upgrade shipping for free.

My guess is that it is only a matter of time before some consumer group sues Amazon for false advertising 'two day shipping'. My guess is that because of expansion plus other companies entering the two day market, this promise from them has become untenable to maintain at near 100%. What used to be a very rare occurrence (a shipping delay) due to disastrous snowstorms and floods, is now more common.

I don't have prime. Last two orders arrived within 3 days. Both on Sundays.

I got an email that my order will arrive today. This shocks me as I don't know of any couriers that work Saturdays. So, I'll sit in the house (I have no plans anyway) and see if it shows up. If it doesn't, it'll be here Monday. It's very rare my orders aren't here in 2 days. I think once a few weeks ago, it took four or five days.

USPS has a problem delivering on time in our area. So far, I’ve not made too big of a deal about it, but nothing I get has been packaged very well recently either and they are making changes in the return policy that are pretty shocking too; add the price increase and I’ll be calling them on it now. Our use of Amazon Prime has dropped considerably over the last year and I doubt we will renew. Especially since now there are other options available that would work for us just as well; plus those options have local store fronts making returns easier.

Interesting, lukki. Sound's like your region's US Postal Service is subpar. Have you looked at the tracking info for delayed orders, do they show unexplained time gaps? I'd let Amazon know.

Both of my next day deliveries described above came in the mail. Our mailman gets out of his truck to leave boxes (that don't fit in our normal size mailbox at the side of the street) at the door.

I've had it happen a few times now.

In my area Amazon uses it's own couriers for Prime delivery, especially if it's on Sat. or Sun. I've had very few problems with my Prime orders but I always try to purchase only items that are fulfilled and shipped by Amazon since any late deliveries I've experience have been due to shipments made by the vendors.

Also, be sure to read the detailed 'return' policy if the vendor is handling the shipping. It's not uncommon to have to pay a restocking fee plus return shipping.

Have Prime and always have intermittent problems with delivery, most often it seems to be USPS.

Last week placed an order that was a guaranteed delivery by Sunday (I needed it for Monday), it didn't arrive until Tuesday. Yes, I often get deliveries on Sundays.

USPS noted they "could not access my door" on Sunday; however, nothing had changed on Tuesday when they managed to deliver it. Guess they could not access my door because no one tried.

Called Prime and was given a $10 credit.

Mdln, I have ran into that issue as well. There has only been one time that the door could not be accessed and it was because of snow. Then I have to drive 10 miles in the opposite direction to retrieve it from our post office. What irks me too is that rather than driving up the drive, they will SHOVE packages that are obviously too big for our box at the street. Half the time they are either ripped half way open or completely crunched. There’s a walking path there too so I worry about theft as well.

Annz, have you seen the stories on tv where people who have returned items in what Amazon deems as excessive are now getting their accounts cancelled? No warning, just an email that their account has been closed. That also means no access to their music, books or anyother subscription they’ve paid for through the years. That’s pretty much the straw that broke it for me because not only are the reviews not reliable anymore but many of the things I buy seem to have that dollar store quality to them. No thanks!

Elmer, subpar is a very kind description. :c( I do look at the tracking, usually the last entry is dropped off by UPS at USPS sorting something or another and then there are crickets.... Last shipment took so long, I had forgotten about it.

I was not on 2 day (, but free shipping) when checking time after they said it was shipped it was a day from coming and I then got a email saying I needed to reorder. I then ordered from wallmart when I sent for 3 scooters (for grand kids) got every thing plus 2 extra scooters. Now I am waiting for the bill to see if I was charged for the extra ones .( so I will know what to tell them when I return them.) You just can't win any more.

The only times I have had a problem with delivery were if the item came directly from the vendor, not AZM or AZM gives it to the USPS. The post office by me is horrible. Delivery to a different address, claims I was not home(I watched the carrier walk right by my house), claims it was delivered when it was not. Now I have a note with AZM that they ship only via their trucks, FedEx or UPS.

lukki, if the lingering pauses in transit show up on the tracking info (and not over a weekend or holiday), that's something Amazon can investigate and do something about.

Also, it sounds like the conduct of your mail carrier leaves a lot to be desired. I'd contact the manager of the Post Office responsible for deliveries to your home and give them the citations of mail carrier problems as best you can remember - items and dates if possible or just the general experiences overall.

There are no weather issues affecting mail delivery here so I haven't run into the circumstances that one problem you had caused. Maybe what happened is reasonable in very bad weather, I don't know. Let the PO manager know about that too. Otherwise, It's probably just good luck and back luck as to my delivery experiences and your's.

???? Amazon has warehouses - very large ones. But the only stores they have are the few new bookstores and the one experimental e-pay grocery mart that is for Seattle Amazon employees only....at least, so far as I know.

A friend ordered a gift for me from Amazon. It arrived at my post office. MY post office sent it BACK to Amazon. Amazon resent it and about a week later I finally got it. Our postal service leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah...the one miss was absolutely reasonable. I’d never expect someone to drive (or tote) packages up a steep 150 ft long drive that’s covered in ice and snow.

But I have no interest spending my off time dealing with Amazon and the postal service. Life is too short and my plate is too full for that circus. Everything that used to make Amazon appealing to me is gone so I think I’m just going to let the subscription expire and start shopping locally again. It’s less frustration. Our local economy needs the revenue and obviously Jeff can afford to loose a little business.

As far as the topic of this thread, I'm fortunate in that I very, very rarely have any problem with Prime items arriving in 2 days. Because it is so rare, when it does happen I'm normally ok with the delay. I've not had a crisis where I absolutely needed something in 2 days and didn't get it. I do consider myself lucky and hope it never happens!

I rarely have issues with Amazon but I have noticed this on occasion.

I did have a weird issue earlier in the week. I use Amazon's grocery delivery and I've used it successfully once or twice a month since January. We live in a single family home with no gate and deliveries are never a problem. I made a $250 order and got a notice that delivery was attempted but unable to be completed due to an access issue. I reached out to Amazon and they couldn't give me any reason and gave me a $15 credit. It was annoying because I had to reorder everything and wait another day. The next try was successful.

Well, my orders all showed up today. Only one day late. I do live in a rural area, so that may be part of it.

I tracked my package this morning (it didn't arrive yesterday, I didn't think it would) Lo and behold it's out for delivery! On a SUNDAY? Weird. I don't think I've ever had anything delivered on a weekend, with the exception of Canada Post during the busy Christmas season. I usually try to place my orders on days I know 100% for sure someone will be home. Lucky for me, my husband will be here, as I have to go to a staff meeting in an hour. I really didn't expect this until tomorrow even with the 2 day shipping. I never include weekends.

Deliveries that go the "final mile" via USPS have been a problem for the past couple of years in my neighborhood. Lots of complaints from lots of us about missing, mis-delivered, marked as delivered but not for 3-4 more days, "no one home", "unable to access" etc etc. Mail and packages found dropped in yards and streets. Even had an incident where certified mail from the IRS was delivered into a mailbox-- the wrong mailbox, not signed for by wrong homeowner (or the intended recipient obviously), but somehow it had been signed for according to USPS.

We have been told that it is because our neighborhood is used for "training". Seems like little training and less supervision to me.

I have a package - live plants (not ordered from Amazon) - that made it from CA to the FedEx facility, in a nearby suburb, Friday mid afternoon. According to the tracking, it departed that facility Friday evening -- to where I don't know! Once before I had a package that made it to that facility, then next showed up in northern Indiana, before returning to town 3 days later.

Mine showed up 45 minutes ago.

It sounds like many of you have Postal Service problems, not specifically an Amazon problem. I can't imagine a reluctance to allocating time to get that sorted out and it not being a priority.

Amazon Lockers are free and ideal for customers having logistical or reliability issues with deliveries. They're often in convenience stores and since the purchase of Whole Foods, A. Lockers are starting to appear in many of those too.

I wouldn't be without Amazon, we find buying stuff from them is ideal for very many reasons. Selection, fair prices, convenience (24x7), information, ease of comparing alternatives and reading others' ratings/opinions, on and on.

Closest Whole Foods is about 3 hours south!

If living up north on a lake in a small town means I get packages late, I will suffer thru!!! I love lake living!

I don't have Amazon Prime but usually get my packages before the shipping date noted on the order. Books I ordered last week were supposed to arrive on the 6th...Amazon sent me an e-mail saying they would be here tomorrow! The only time I have issues is things that come from China...then I know there's going to be a long wait but it does say that when you buy them.

Question about the locker thing.

There are some items that Amazon won't ship to a post office, and it refuses to accept that my house number exists, so they won't ship here. I've had a couple items shipped to my old house (which is not quite ready to be on the market), but those would be items I don't care if they sit out in the potential rain for a couple days before I go get them.

Sometimes they won't ship large items to my PO box... I'd ordered two hoses that are lead-free (for my chickens when they go outside). A box like that is fine sitting out in the rain, but are locker sizes big enough to take packages like that? (Ie, especially when the old house sells?)

PS, what I really need to do is contact Google Maps and somehow get THEM to get my actual house into their system. (I am not the only person in town with this issue. We no longer get mail delivery here, people pick up mail at the PO, but some have this problem, others do not.) I think that would take care of the address issue. Especially since the closest Amazon locker is an hour away....

At the old house, Prime would do the 2-day shipping thing. Packages would arrive on Day 3 anyway.... checking UPS tracking, it appeared that packages did arrive in two days to the local station, but were never delivered until the next day.

Up here, Amazon automatically adds on two more days to the delivery time when I select this address. Sometimes packages arrive in 3 days though. Sometimes 5. I guess going Rural does this!

I ordered an item from Walmart recently and it was delivered to my door in 23 hours. I did not pay for faster shipping . I was stunned as I live in a very remote part of Michigan.
