I can't believe how warm it has been this last week. Yesterday we didn't feel the need to put a fire on in the morning or the evening. This kind of weather makes me have to go out and garden. We took out a very ugly fence to our chicken yard are trying to figure out where to put the new one. Would love to do something attractive as well as functional. A few days ago we went to a great nursery called Turner greenhouse, it's at the Turner's house in LV. Wow do they have a lot of plants, expecially succulents. After buying five different agaves I've been planting them to replace the winter damaged ones in the back yard. We got one called Zebra, Parryii truncata, gemniflora, and I think a varigated and a blue Murphy's. Oh, I did something sort of brave. We have a very large canary date palm in our front yard. I have never liked it and never felt it went with our house or our landscaping style but it is so big. I offered it to a landscaper I know and he sounds interested in it. Wish I would have done this four years ago when the tree was smaller and we would have had something nice and well established by now. Life is to short to keep plants around you don't like even if they are big and hard to get out. Also since winter is almost over it is definately time to get the mail ordering done. High Country Gardens here I come! Happy Gardening, Maria

Used to be an early adopter on most things, including tech and fashion (lived in NYC as a single person), but have turned into a luddite slug wrt anything but a few areas. pesky, you're behind the times with a big-screen that doesn't hang on the wall? LOL we still have our 1993 27" Toshiba CRT tv as our only one! We periodically shop for a larger new tv but we just can't seem to get rid of this one since it still works. Would be a shame to waste it. We figure when it dies, we'll get whatever is best (within our price range) then, as we did back in 1993. Don't think the new item will last as long, though :( -- that's what ticks us off about buying new technology these days. Funny thing: I got a DroidX the day it came out (replacing years of free craigslist phones). I was looking at it one day recently at the gas station, trying to navigate my little corner of it, and the gas station attendant came up excitedly -- he'd just gotten a DroidX the day before and had it *completely* customized -- he'd downloaded wallpaper, put tons of music on it, had each home page completely arranged and connected the way he wanted it...his excitement at encountering a fellow Droid owner turned to disgust when he saw that I use *one* home page and only the very basics there...

I beg to differ PK. If one didn't have a current/active email address on file with HGTV Garden Web-Kitchen Table...no pre-registration took place. I had tried numerous times over the last few years to update my personal info page and submit a new email address. The old one had been closed/nonfunctional for some time. Despite my attempts...the new information never "took" and I finally gave up in exasperation. As I never volunteered for email comments...and I've never been a 24/7 regular member...I had no reason to worry about the lack of success I'd had. Until...lo and behold...Houzz actually arrived on the screen. I had to actively register with Houzz directly to gain access to all Garden Web sites. For those of you who had viable email addresses on file with Garden Web...pre-registration was, truly, successful. Anne

I got mine! Just finished my little bio and sent it off. I am very excited. Can't wait to begin building my swap box!!
