sensitive skin solutions
Comments (15)I have always had very sensitive skin and my regimine is tedious and boring. As far as bug control goes though I use only avon's original scent Skin So Soft. I know many people have tried it and do not have success but it works wonders for me. I cannot use any of the regular insect repellents. They either make me ill or make my skin break out. The SSS works for me and does not irritate my skin. I also think that the layer of oil helps keep other irritating plant 'stuff' and chemicals from getting next to my skin as well. What does irritate me about it is the oily mess. I cannot come in from out of doors and sit down on my dining room or living room chairs. If I rest my arms on a table or desk I leave an oily mark. So I trade one problem for another because I live and breath outdoors - I just cannot stay inside for any lenth of time. But back to the plus side again - I have pretty good looking skin for my age :-). I think all those years of oiling up before I go outside might have something to do with it....See MoreSensitive skin drive you crazy!?
Comments (8)Aahh - here I am with the Irish Skin!!!! Too pale for sunshine, attracting all of the biting devils.... I don't use anything with perfume, as a rule. ( I have some really nice, pricey perfume for those times). I tend to marinate myself in Off, Deep Woods - the non -aerosol version. I still get bit by Black Flies, Horse/Deer Flies and mossies who find the ONE spot that you have not misted. There is nothing that I know that will deter the black flies- I will stay inside next spring when they are gone, as the garden is dug; deer/horse flies - let me know if you have a charm!!! Nasty things - very hard to kill - stunned but fast enough. Take chunks out of your hide.... Now, for the bites, I have found the charm - Witch hazel!!! Odourless, colourless, but not tasteless. It apparrently tastes like crap, as it is used to discourage teen girls from chewing their cuticals....Flow it onto the bites - let it dry - it will also help with the itching of poison ivy. I got this recommend from a colleague whose sister rides mountain bike competitively - this is what saves her!!! It is brilliant - Nancy....See MoreSensitive Skin Sears HE Liquid Free and Suds
Comments (3)I was just looking for All Free & Clear HE this morning, it is on sale 2/$6.00 at my store. The Free & Clear HE was the only All that was missing on the shelf, there were tons of every other type and scent. They were still unloading the truck this morning, so I am checking back Monday. Ask your grocer what day they get their shipments, most stores will be happy to tell you when an item will be in, or even order it for you. It is a bit hard to find, my other usual store does not carry it. They also charge twice the price for the All they do carry, so I would not buy it there unless I had to....See MoreUltra Purex Sensitive Skin Fabric Softener is GREAT
Comments (1)I have used Purex Fabric Softener for years (20+) because I tested many Fabric Softeners in an allergy skin test & had reactions to everything, but Purex. Unfortunately, it is not distributed widely enough & periodically whereever I find it (sometimes grocery stores, sometimes Walmart & Target) at times stop carrying it. I liked the original just fine & actually find all the new fragrances fairly heavy (including Almond Milk & Aloe), but am very excited that they are addressing the sensitive skin market. I really can't use dryer sheets since they leave a film on clothes & make me break out. You are right, it is so nice to have towels & clothes smell fresh & not fight with my perfumes....See MoreMDLN
