Sensitive Skin Sears HE Liquid Free and Suds

My kids have very sensitive skin. Lately all of the stores around here (NY) are all out of All Small and Mighty Free Clear HE. I contacted Unilever and they say there is no supply problem. Drugstore.com is out, Target is out and one of the local supermarkets that used to carry it will no longer stock it. Previously I have tried Tide Free Clear = bad Eczema flair up and have yet to find Arm and Hammer Free Clear HE.

So, I decided to try Sears Free Clear HE liquid. My question is why do I see suds after the second rinse? I added 1/4 cup of vinegar to the bleach dispenser and a little bit of sodium bicarbonate (arm & hammer detergent booster) with the clothes in the washer since I use liquid detergent.

We were using Seventh Generation Free Clear HE but my daughter was getting a rash from it.

I was just looking for All Free & Clear HE this morning, it is on sale 2/$6.00 at my store. The Free & Clear HE was the only All that was missing on the shelf, there were tons of every other type and scent. They were still unloading the truck this morning, so I am checking back Monday. Ask your grocer what day they get their shipments, most stores will be happy to tell you when an item will be in, or even order it for you. It is a bit hard to find, my other usual store does not carry it. They also charge twice the price for the All they do carry, so I would not buy it there unless I had to.

I have visited every supermarket and two target stores repeatedly over the past 3-4 weeks. No one has any! I contacted All customer service twice and they don't understand what the issue is but said all of these stores in my area (Rockland County NY and Bergen County NJ) must use the same distributor. Even drugstore.com is out of it. I am desperate and may try Country Save or Charlie's Soap....

The P & G Free detergents are free of perfumes and dyes. I have long suspected that the blue in most detergents is a mild blueing agent to keep whites that crisp bright bluish white people like while not effecting the colors of other clothes. My theory is kind of supported by the fact they have to put optical brighteners in the free versions so the consumer would get that same bright white effect. It would also explain why the free versions have trouble averting dye transer in some situations when tested by CR. One could surmise that the non free detergents must also have an added ingredient to prevent the dye in the detergent from building up on clothing and preventing whites from becoming too blue. No dye in the free means they do not have to add whatever it is to prevent the blue from building up as there is none. All theories like I said, but it does make ya think. Anyway, Cheer HE is still working here with no probs so far.

@CharterOps -- Where do you live in E TN? Back to the topic: Maybe I need to try the Sears detergent again; I didn't notice the 'fresh' smell everyone mentions when I tried it (which one should I try?). I've noticed the lack of 'freshness' with Tide, and just thought it was my nose. I've been using liquid Wisk HE with very good results, and fresher smelling clothes. I'm finishing a box of Tide powder HE, but do notice it's still not the same as the original Tide powder. For all of you who have detergents you don't want, consider donating to your local Animal Shelter, or even your local Vet's office. =)

Kenmorewasher, Since when do "higher levels of ingredients" equate to "fewer uses per bottle/box." Logically, one would conclude just the opposite. What am I missing here! Springer, Not true! Only HE liquids specify 26 loads per/bottle, while all regular Tide liquids specify 32 loads. That equates to roughly 4 oz. of HE to 3oz. of regular liquid. If that's not watered down, than what is? Furthermore, that same general incongruity persists throughout their entire powdered line; and for that matter, their entire product line. On another note, it's hard for me to believe that P&G is in the business of "fooling" anyone. (class action lawsuit) Misleading; MAYBE. --Marc

The Persil for Sensitive skin is now heavily scented. It used to be my go to but all Persil (Euro Persil made by Henkels in Germany), not have extreme scents in them. I will pick up a box of Miele Sensitive to see if it is still unscented. I can't understand why a sensitive product should have scent in it at all. Henkels Black magic was my go to for a long time and I just ran out of the old formula. I can't even have the formula in my home, it is that heavily scented. I will pick up a bottle of Common Good unscented detergent to see if sudsing is an issue with that brand in my Mieles. Good luck!

Is it possible that there was a problem with it? I have heard from 3 other people that their All Small and mighty free and clear was very thick (one said she sliced it to use it?). I emailed and asked the company what might cause this but they only replied with a sorry you experienced a problem we are sending a free coupon. I posted asking others if they had a problem with the consistency also but only got 2 replies.
