Is non sine wave inverter o.k. for emergency power of appliances?

I am trying to prepare for possible Winter outages. Instead of a generator I have been looking at a power inverter to hook to my automobile. I am considering this inverter: http://www.amazon.com/KRI%C3%8BGER%C2%AE-Inverter-outlets-notebook-cellphone/dp/B00UXM6F22/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1443902937&sr=8-2&keywords=kreiger+inverter
I would expect to needs this for no more than 72 hours at a time. I want to power a chest freezer, refrigerator, LED light of 25 Watts, and recharge computers and phones. I have read conflicting reports about non sine waver inverters and appliances. They are not as efficient and the motors will run hotter on the appliances. For an emergency will this really make a difference to the life of the appliance? Will it harm cell phone or laptop computers chargers?
Odds of power outage are relatively low so I don't want to spend $$$ on a sine wave inverter if avoidable. Thoughts and suggestions welcome.
