We have three frameless, recessed Robern med cabs, and are very happy with all three. We have 3 1/2-4" deep models in the guest bathroom and hall bathroom, and a 6" deep model in the MB. Our bathrooms are small as well (MB is the smallest, go figure!), so storage space was a concern for us as well. I love my 6" med cab--can fit a lot in there! Ours all have flat mirrors, because that was our preference. I think you would be fine with whichever one you choose--I don't think there is a hard and fast rule which type of mirror you can use with a traditional or contemporary or ultra modern bathroom. I've seen bathrooms of all types using a wide range of med cab styles and none ever looked out-of-place to me.

threeapples, I purchased nickel framed mirrors for the walls, but shipped them back. I love the look, but it just wasn't right for this space. It felt choppy. My biggest concern is it will look unfinished if I don't frame the large mirrors. I have to figure this out by the end of the week so I am starting to feel the pressure! For the hall bath I had a large three panel frame made to fit the space and that was much easier decision as the walls define the space much better than the master. ( credit due to tinker2006 and pipdog for inspiration!) Here is the before pic. Install is scheduled for Friday. Fingers are crossed, nothing seems to go as planned! (as you know- and take heart- this little ceramic bathroom (hex and subways) has had problem after problem...uneven floor, spotty grout, tile guy scratched outside of new tub, electrician put ladder in tub to install light and scratched floor of tub, it goes on and on- but I love the simplicity of that room and would not change a thing. I will just have to stick to my guns until they make everything right. You do the same!

The others are right, though you need to be careful because a lot of adhesives will attact the silvering (ok, these days it's aluminuming) and you may want to remove it one day - use the special stuff, but most framed mirrors don't use adhesive at all, they're held in place with brads or, preferably, beading. My wife and I obtained some doors that were intended to be glazed or perhaps have a panel in them; ie it's the outer part of the door with an open centre, and we've been talking about making it into some sort of decorative mirror. I suspect buying a made one would be cheaper, but we're thinking of doing something nifty and personal with it. I'd be figuring on beading holding the mirror in, it'll be backless. In the op's situation glue is a good idea, as for the rebate for the edges of the mirror, if you have a friend with a table saw or even a hand saw with a fence, it's very easy to make a rebate/notch that will help hold the mirror in place, even if it's 1/8" - but your gluing thing will probably work but I'd be very careful...you'll probably want to screw the frame to the wall to be safe.

@Patricia Colwell, originally we were not planning to tile behind the mirror at all. Partly because I didn't think we needed to, and partly because we had quite a bit of breakage upon delivery and I wanted to play it safe with the amount of good tile we had. But then we decided to go ahead and place unneeded tile samples there (including the white "teeth"), figuring they'd be covered by the mirror anyway. We got a chuckle out of the idea of someone someday removing the mirror and wondering about the meaning of those 8 white tiles. Perhaps I'll include a mysterious note (about giant teeth?) and stick it behind the mirror before install to add to the intrigue! :) As it turned out, we ended up having more than enough tile left over, and now I am planning to use it for a bedside table and a few other projects.
