Kenmore Oasis Elite Top Loader Owners - Q's
Comments (2)OP, does the Oasis washer have a Soak cycle? My 1 1/2 year-old Maytag Bravos, which is similar to the Oasis (both are HE toploaders made by Whirlpool) has a Soak cycle, and I use it in a very similar way as you said you used your former washer, with slight variations. As you already know, you cannot change water temp once you've started a wash cycle. Is the Oasis hot water truly hot? On most current HE washers which do not have internal water heaters, 'hot' water is actually warm, especially during cold weather. Because the Oasis is a TL, you can stop the washer, open the lid, and use an aquarium thermometer to check the wash water temp. True hot water is 140 degrees or higher. True warm water is between 120-130 degrees. If your Oasis hot water is actually warm, you could use the Hot temp. If you prefer, you could use the Warm temp, and you might get an actual Cool water temp. Load the washer with the laundry you want to soak, add the detergent and Oxi, let the washer fill with water and let it agitate for a few minutes. Then, IF your washer has a Pause botton, you could Pause the washer and let the laundry soak 'til morning. Before I got my Bravos HE TL, I soaked laundry as you said. Now that I have this washer, I load the washer with the laundry I want to soak, add detergent (Oxi can also be used), let the washer fill with water and let it agitate for a few minutes. If I want to soak laundry overnight, I then pause the washer. The next morning, I press Start to let the Soak cycle finish. Then I use a regular cycle (I do not add more detergent, as there is no rinse on the Soak cycle) to wash the laundry. My washer's Soak cycle allows me to add laundry throughout the entire cycle -- I do have to press Pause to unlock the lid before adding more laundry. If your washer does not have a Soak cycle, you could use a regular cycle, let the laundry agitate for a few minutes, and be sure the "Add A Garment" light is still on when you hit Pause if you want to add more laundry after you've soaked those items. I hope this helps. Do you have the manual for that washer?...See MoreDosing for borax, oxy, and powdered detergents with FLs
Comments (2)My usage doses. Oxi-no more than a quarter of a cup and that is for heavy soil. Borax and washing soda-never more than 1/8 cup (2Tbsp), but I usually only need 1 Tbsp STPP-1 to 2 Tbsp depending on size of load. Even less for small loads. Charlie's Soap-full Tbsp scoop for large loads and cut back if loads are smaller. Anywhere from 3/4 of a Tbsp scoop to 1/2 a Tbsp scoop....See MorePurex with oxy powder
Comments (29)Hi Bea..this psssed me by somehow. No I didn't add STPP or oxygen bleach, just the detergent. I honestly didn't have much suds and after the rinse when they died down they never reappeared....the towels ended up clean and white, but they were already white lol, one use wouldn't make a dingy towel. But I wonder if they would stay white if this is what I continued to use. Which I'm not going to find out, LOL..I like white towels washed with Tide with Bleach and STPP to aid with good rinsing. Now today I used the Purex powder on a load of colors moderate to heavy soils but I added STPP, and hot water there was no suds at all and I used a full cup. Suds tests on towels are never a fair test since they always kick up the suds. The colors were probably soiled enough to kick down the suds, the heavier the soil the less suds, for me anyway. Everything came clean, This also wasn't a fair test as I added STPP. All in all Bea I had acceptable results so far, but I have a feeling without STPP it wouldn't have worked very well without the phosphates. Just a feeling. But it was fun to play around with it.haha...See MoreMy turn to say WOW and Thank You MamaP!
Comments (16)Alex, your very welcome. The OMO is Persil from Brazil. I think I sent two different Sears detergents, one with duel enzymes and one with enzymes and fabric softener. The Sunlight is very good and spiked with stpp is really good..I think it has sodium percarbonate in it so for whites and lights. .I doubt you will get suds with it. I found the cup at the dollar tree two for a buck and I didn't want the pods to get broken. Lol. When your load is done let us know how the Persil cap worked/smelled/sudsing for you. The Tide Pro with Oxi is formulated for hotels so its got a more neutral PH in order to protect textiles longer due to excessive laundering, it also has extra sodium percarbonate in it and a bleach activator. ..it has a scent in the box but after the wash things just smell clean as hotels don't like scented linens..its very good stuff. The Cascade is because your a great guy and I knew you would appricate it. Have fun with the treats. Larsi that's the cascade box I have for you also...LOL...See Morerecordaras
