Dosing for borax, oxy, and powdered detergents with FLs
Comments (2)My usage doses. Oxi-no more than a quarter of a cup and that is for heavy soil. Borax and washing soda-never more than 1/8 cup (2Tbsp), but I usually only need 1 Tbsp STPP-1 to 2 Tbsp depending on size of load. Even less for small loads. Charlie's Soap-full Tbsp scoop for large loads and cut back if loads are smaller. Anywhere from 3/4 of a Tbsp scoop to 1/2 a Tbsp scoop....See Morepurex classic powder he signature on box
Comments (1)I have never tried it but if it is working for you then that is what counts. How much does it say to use for a top loading machine? If you use about 1/2 that amount in a front loading machine that seems about standard from what I have gleaned reading up on comments around here and on the web. I don't know how much a Sears scoop holds but 2 Tablespoons = 1/8 cup = 1 ounce of product. So if you are using only an ounce that would be 64 loads for that price which is an excellent price providing the detergent works for your needs :)...See MorePurex Liquid
Comments (34)Tide does the same thing with the misleading label. Today I used my coupons and got my 3 Fab Fresh Crystals and my HUGE jug of Purex Fab Fresh detergent. Cant wait for my son to take some of this. First load white bath towels and wash cloths. It was a full load. I took a chance and used to line 2, along with a few T of the crystals, 140 something F. 3 rinses and 1 T Downy Free. I expected suds after all it was towels, but I had very few suds, at first I thought ok no way I've used enough so while the *add a garment* was still on I opened and felt the water..nice and slippery. Than I figured once the temp started raising the suds will sneak up, but no they never did. OMG my house smelled great. 2nd rinse was almost clear and 3'rd rinse was crystal..Towels came out of the washer smelling terrific and nice and clean and yes white..out of the dryer soft, fluffy, with a lovely light scent. Next time I will use a Tide bleach booster since this isn't a Whites detergent. Second load vintage percale sheets and pillowcases...full load, I used again to line 2, &2 T crystals, 1 teaspoon Downy Free. 154+ F and 3 rinses. Again hardly no suds. 3'rd rinse crystal clear..Sheets were clean, white and smelled lovely. I've started ironing them amd I get whiffs of the lovely scent. I did not use any boosters but I will in the future, this is not a whites detergent and I want to keep my whites white. This is also not going to be my daily driver, I think it may be great for towels, sheets, nighties though....See MorePurex Oxi?
Comments (4)Hi dear, I believe the oxi in is is actually the addition of enzymes. I think the second one also has enzymes lol. I think the smaller jugs of Purex in the dark blue all have enzymes and the huge jugs don't. I have the one in the first pic with oxi, there's no oxi in it...but its not a bad performer..and the scents of these sure beat some other detergents on the market. I know with STPP added it gives a really good clean. But all in all it will do a good job on light to moderate soil....See Moremamapinky0
