Larsi, I remember you not liking the US Persil. But, out of curiosity why did you stop using the German Persil for your whites?

Has something changed, and I haven't noticed yet?

Mitch...the last batch of German Persil my family brought (June 2015) me from Germany, was about as bad as USA Persil. It did not clean, remove stains like it used to, and once dried and stored....clothes and towels developed a sour, gross smell. Very sad, as Persil was the Gold Standard for me, for many, many years!!

Larsi: Go ahead and order the Miele white. You know you want to...you know you will...LOL. Give it a whirl with the "Little Giant".

That's fascinating. I still have some of the *old* Persil, on hand. And was shocked at the lackluster performance of the stuff from Wal-Mart.

The Walmart Persil, seemed so great for two loads. Then... I really noticed, nothing smelled like Persil. Some socks, still smelt, well.. Dirty. And NOTHING looked really clean to begin with, so I was using Bleach to cover up the lack of clean.

It took me a little while to figure it out, because, I was just so used to Persil Working, and I didn't think that things could be different. I kept thinking maybe I had screwed up something, and dismissing my thoughts. :p

I really love Persil... and honestly, it was some of your posts on here, that got me into using it. I'm going to be really saddened too, if it's changed that badly, recently.

Also - Tide Professional Powder? Are you guys talking about the stuff from Sam's Club? :)

Larsi, lets see, the Tide Pro with oxi has done an excellent job with my whites, much better even that Tide/Bleach which I swore by...nothing could possiably whiten better than Tide Pro...than I bought the Miele White, 1'st I love the crisp scent, it also gives me excellent and brilliant whites, however it gives me the dazzling, brilliant whites I crave in less time. A 18 minute wash in my queen with Tide Pro, great...18 minute wash with Miele white,Brilliant. .now we all know I soak my whites but if I didn't I would get great with Tide Pro and Brilliant with Miele....so I would choose ...Miele White...and remember that STPP added to the Miele, no one could have whiter, softer, fresher WHITES!!! Its written in the stars Larsi the Miele is for you...and those whites will look great with your beautiful skin...you've got it babe..flaunt it!!!

Mitch it does have blue specks..it smells more like a older version of tide/ bleach...it smells good...when the wash is done no perfume scent just a fresh clean scent.

Yes I love Mexican Ariel...I drive to a little Mexican grocery store in a not so good area in Pittsburgh to buy it...great stuff. Several months ago I found ariel with downy there..ill take a pic of the sticker on it in a few..but its great.

Yes Mitch Sams did carry the Tide Pro. Not sure if mine still has it .

There's a reason, that's printed on it. P&G has actually made a pretty big stink about Ariel being in the US, and certainly hasn't liked law-makers & congressman asking them about it.

The problem is... Ariel is perfectly legal for sale in there Target market (Mexico) and there are no laws prohibiting one from importing it, into the US. Now... it's not really supposed to be sold, in states banning Phosphates, but... obviously, many states don't have the time, or knowledge to care.

I can't remember the exact language, but Mexican Ariel even has a little line about the detergent should only be sold in "Mexico, PR, Columbia, etc" and contains contact information for all of the offices there.

But like it or not, Mexican Ariel is a legal product, and can be imported into the United States. P&G argues... that it's a knock-off/fake of Ariel USA, but... there's not much they can say to the importers. And... I remember one major importer of Mexican Goods, did start printing labels like that.

Just know... that if you see that label, it's certainly good stuff. And P&G isn't phasing out Phosphates just yet, in Mexico. I've heard time frames, about within the next 5-7 years, but, nothing too soon I think. ;)

Mich I have stock piled Mexican Ariel and Ariel with downy...I will hsve to give some out for xmas gifts as I bet I have at least enough to fill 15 large sears detergent boxes..I bought it all because it is loaded with phosphates, I love the bitersweet scent,it cleans excellently and rinses clean. Yes I'm crazy!

I do love it though, even though I don't own a Top Loader... the reduced dosing works better than Tide Plus Bleach for me, and rinses cleaner. I just stopped using it for a while, because I was able to afford a huge stash of German Ariel... and loved using it so much. ;)

If Tide Plus Bleach had a better scent, I'd probably still use it full time. But... Ariel for Me ;)

I've never tried the German Ariel but have heard its tremendously good, its on my Must Get list lol. I also really like Foca, with added STPP, its very good, and I like the scent.

Have you tried the Foca that comes loaded with Phosphates in it, yet? ;)

YES only found one bag, lat year now they all say phosphate free..WOW bestI've ever used on whites..would love to get my hands on it again

The biggest thing about Dishwasher Detergent, is keeping it away from Moisture. As long as it's moisture sealed, it can age elegantly, without using it's effectiveness.

Someday... I'll get to host dinner party's. And with everyone having rock hard city water, I'll be the house with the shiniest, gleaming china. ;)

Miele Ultra White ORDERED!!! :) Thanks everyone. I figured since I like the Miele Color Care so much, the Ultra White must be great....especially if our Mama P loves it. Also, it has 24-30 five star reviews on Amazon. With prime/free shipping and no sales tax...it was the same price as buying from our local Miele vacuum store & having to pay CA sales tax, and it will be delivered on Weds 9/9.

I have enough of Mama's Pro Tide for many loads too, so no panic in Larsi Land (I only wash one load of whites per week). Oh, did I mention I will be using it in my new Miele Little Giant washer?? LMAO :)

You'll like the Miele Ultra White, it's a go to for me as well. As a caregiver and multi pet owner, it washes those stains better than any American offering I've used. As a clinical massage therapist, it washes out the oil stains better than any Persil. Rinses clearer than German/US Persil. I like the light scent as well.

@larsi_gw, I'd love to. But... I can't at the moment. To make things as short and sweet as possible, there are some very crazy people in this world, who don't always have the best of intentions. So... I have to be very, very careful using social media, due to problems my extended family have had.

Now that's what I'm talking about, REAL DISHWASHER Detergent. Not the cruddy, weak stuff we all put up with. That's what I grew up using, and I know first hand, how well it worked.

Even with a completely overloaded, bottom line dishwasher, everything would come out completely spotless, even if none of it was pre-rinsed.

The same can't be said, for most detergents today. Even the TOL Finish Quantum.

And @mamapinky0, I didn't start off with that impressive of a stash. I really just had a lot of good luck, and happened to have a lot of moments of being in the right place at the right time. ;)

I could go and purchase a Miele Dishwasher tomorrow, and fill up the salt dispenser, and never use more than a heaping tablespoon of phosphate laden detergent. I'd probably then, have a lifetime supply at that.

The Cascade ActionPacs are what I really get excited about. My mother was one of the people, who really purchased them, early on. And I *know* loading first hand, how well they worked. We had, super, super hard water, and not a drop of rinse aid... and you couldn't tell. Everything shined, without a trace of a spot. ;)

I don't personally have a lot of memories, of Cascade Powder. All I remember, is my mom buying a box maybe twice, and I found, that I could get away with using a whole lot less, then suggested.

Mich, I have a BOL 20 year old Frigidaire D/W as long as I use a phosphated detergent or add STPP everything comes out spotless. And I also use a heaping tablespoon. I won't get rid of this D/W until its dead. Oh and I scrape but never prerinse.

Larsi, you made a good choice with the Miele white, your gonna love it. And so will the Giant.

@mamapinky, in your case, it's my opinion that appliances from that era weren't exactly BOL. I mean, you could purchase ANY dishwasher and get the exact same results. The same goes for ovens, and refrigerators. Things we're made, much much better then.

Dishwashers actually used water. And, with Detergent's... formulated well, it didn't really make a difference what model you had. You'd still get a clean load of dishes.

One of my favorite dishwashers, actually was a BOL GE Triton from a Disney Grand Floridian Resort Villa. I joke about that, because, they we're probably the cheapest, builder grade appliances they could find. But... every single load, would come out, completely immaculate. Even the tough stuff, like oatmeal stuck on bowls & stuck on egg, just rinsed completely away with the Phosphate Detergent packets they gave us.

Like I said, older appliances, we're much better made. I don't think it really mattered what you bought ;)

This is why I'm holding onto my D/W, I can't imaging the newer ones using so much less water, I'd be opening the door and dumping a bucket it lol.

Mamapinky....if you get a new DW, then your soup pot will be SO happy!! Reunited and it feels so right..... LOL. Honestly we are on our 3rd Miele dishwasher in 20 years, 3 homes...and they are phenomenal!!! Water efficient, but flawless operation. Remember for dishwasher...scrape, but do not rinse!!
