Warning about shady Thai eBay vendor 'Areya'
Comments (30)Hi All, I've bought from Aleya garden a few times would like to add my experience. I have enjoyed dealing with this guy and 'Shady' is the last word I'd use to describe him. I've ordered established rooted plants and unrooted cuttings and am extremely pleased with my purchases and the service I've received. All my shipments arrived in about 4 days (at very reasonable cost), were well packed, and communication was friendly and plentiful. I always put mine into intensive care when they arrive and have pretty good results. I've had 100% success with the cuttings, and about 90% with rooted plants. He replaced the 10% that died with cuttings too - I'm more than happy with that. Remember that the plants travel a long way and suffer a great deal of stress, so you need to take great care of them. My experience tells me that unrooted cuttings are the way to go - I know not everyone agrees with this, but it works for me! Finally, I also sell plants online as a hobby (within the EU) and this would be a great opportunity for me to shoot a potential competitor down, but I genuinely feel he's done a great job with me, and I am pleased I've taken the time to tell you all. Comments (36)Hi Karen, IÂm happy for you that your big plants are going to make it! If there was ever a chance for you to recover from plumeria addiction, it will disappear when your own plants bloom for you. ItÂs said there are no ugly cats, but that some are more beautiful than others. This also applies to plumeria. Your nighttime temps are ok for starting cuttings. Water them well the day you plant them and then wait at least a month before watering them again. Place your pots on concrete in order to provide bottom heat; I always used the edge of my driveway at my last house. Rooting may take as long as ninety days. Reds as a group are the most prone to rot; some rainbows are also very rot prone during rooting. Let what you see guide you after the first thirty days. If leaves are developing begin watering lightly and infrequently until leaves are six to ten inches, then start giving lots of water. When they are well rooted you are in the clear; a few varieties have a reputation for being rot prone even in their second year, but once rooted, plumeria are tough plants that can tolerate anything except freezing, standing water, and cold wet feet during dormancy. IÂm using BillÂs bottle method for making a planting cavity in the pot because it makes a lot of sense. I can tell you it provides excellent support for the cuttings until they have roots to hold them in place. Also no soaking wet soil is held in direct contact with the bottom of the cutting while it is rooting, decreasing the odds of rotting. As water vapor evaporates through the perlite and pumice on itÂs way out of the pot, the cutting senses there is water nearby and sends out roots to find it. Philip...See MoreNew seeds arrived today
Comments (53)Thanks T-head. I think I may have mentioned earlier, these were repotted not long ago and at the time I was unaware of why these were growing this way and tried very hard to straighten them when repotted.(unaware of the habit) It was really obvious prior to that and made me think something was wrong, so I repotted and relocated. But almost all have done gone back to the "creeping" already, but kind of starting to add some height now....See Moreupdate: u pick the theme swap partners update!
Comments (150)HAPPY PART... Okay, the votes are in, and the judges have made their final decision! The winner of the picture contest is Joan, with her pictorial contribution of "LEGS"...lol!!! It was a tough decision, and all the pictures were great, but what really won it for Joan was our fear of what she was holding behind her back in the picture, and whether or not she'd use it on us! LOL!!! Joan, put the chainsaw down!!! Now all I need is Joan's address (can't find it anywhere here on this computer... Bump's been "organizing" files again!) and her prize will be on it's way! Thanks to Everyone who participated and came through with their trade! You all made this swap a great one! -Dan =========================================================== UNHAPPY PART, BUT SADLY NECESSARY We unfortunately had one person fail to follow through on her end of a trade, and yes, I'm talking about Leah/dancingrabbit. The last time she posted she said she'd be mailing out her boxes (she's in two RRs that I know of) this past week, so, I'm giving her this coming week to either post delivery confirmation numbers (so the boxes can be tracked) or for these two boxes to actually be delivered. If no proof of these boxes has surfaced at the end of this coming week, Leah will be banned from further trades within the MNF group, other groups will be alerted to her actions, and a VERY unsavory rating will be left for her in the rate and review forum, hopefully warning anyone else from including her in any trades or swaps. Leah, if you are reading this, and you wish to save your reputation, post the delivery confirmation numbers of those boxes, AND e-mail me right away....See Morelivebetter
