So bunny .. our latest financial disaster.. that roof leak. Got my son up on the roof who came back with the news that the roof is actually sinking in in a few spots. joy.

wonder how many tarps lowe's has.. and how many bricks it'll take to cover the whole roof..lol

maybe I can find a bright orange one and claim it's Halloween decor... and then it can also fit into the Fall/thanksgiving decor... then maybe I can find a bright red one that'll look like a welcome mat for Santa's sleigh... that would also work great for Valentine's of course.. multi-purpose color tarping.. who knows?? maybe it's the next big thing !!!

We're going to a 'Taste of..' event where you get to walk around and sample all the restaurants in the area's yummy foods and all the quaint lil stores will be open for us to browse thru. It's in the town I lived in as a small child, and one of the last places my mom took me on a 'tour' of before she died. she had me drive around and see where my great grammy lived and the restaurants my g'father took me to ever sunday as a child. It was a lot of good memories. sadly the place that was my first home has been knocked down and turned into a car lot. progress eh? but it'll be a day of fun and memories I think.

Later on we'll all be planting out plants that need to get in the ground and bringing in the BIG plants that have been basking in the sun all summer long. Leaves are everywhere already. I love to watch the cat and dogs chase the leaves in the wind..cheap entertainment! lol

Wendy~ Some of the fanciest houses around here have tarps hanging from them in various places! LOL
Seriously...UGH...hate to hear that about your roof! That stinks in the worst way. Good thing is, though, that you can do spot repair if the damage isn't too wide spread. That'll buy some time before you need to replace the entire roof. I know your pain, I truly do....the beams holding our roof up are sagging in the middle & bowed out....so our roof is not flat at all. It's like a giant sink hole in the middle. :O)

Hey, on the bright side...they DO make camo tarps, so maybe the neighbors wouldn't notice! LOL And after you get your roof fixed, and have no more use for the tarp, you can get the "Blue Tarp Bible"....it's a great book with all sorts of ideas for using tarps! The boys love ours....we have so many tarps, it just ain't funny. In fact....that is the current roof of our shed that got damaged during that ice storm. A tree took the roof off, so we've had a tarp up there ever since. It ain't perty, but it works! :O)

Becky~ I'm glad you got your box & I hope you enjoy it. The kids loved packing it for you. :O) The grape jam is made from Tontitown grapes, grown just 2 miles from my house. We buy bushels of them every year...there's nothing better than a home grown grape!

Becky, are you out of school again today, young lady? I hope you're feeling better! The stuff going around is so hard to kick...A close friend of mine has been sick since August, and antibiotics aren't doing ANY good!
H1N1 has hit hard here, too. A local school has over 100 students out with it (their entire enrollment, K-12 is only 1100 students!), and those are just the REPORTED cases! They've got more students absent, but aren't confirmed cases.

Yikes.

Yes, I was out again today. I had to go 24 hours without a fever before I could go back to work. I'm going back tomorrow. We've had a lot of students out also.

I got Jessied's box out yesterday (lost a day somehow, thought Tuesday was the 19th - oops).

I recieved her box with all kinds of goodies. She was so thoughtful, she sent tons of seeds in the cooler colors that I have in my garden even though here theme was "Warm Colors, Cool Treats". I devoured the Twix candies - yum!!! She sent a reblooming Iris, purple tulips (which are chillin' in the fridge) Camassia bulbs, candy corn, caramel apple lollypops, lots of Hollyhock seeds and others in yummy colors, a kitty toy that Misty adores and treats for her too. I received my box from Deb yesterday but just now had the chance to sit down and post. My 16 year old son came home sick on Monday with all the symptoms of the H1N1 so it is assumed it is what he has. He is feeling better but now my 17 year old daughter is home with it. I am trying to call the doctor to see if I can get her some Tamiflu to help her out. The symptoms are headache, severe aching, high fevers, (Taylor hit 103.1 and Emily is 102.5 last check), cough, possibly nausea and diarreah. Taylor had it all and Emily has it all as well as vomiting. It is rough.

Since I have been a nurse all week, I was excited to receive my box. The contents were as follows and keep in mind it is themed "for the birds" and Deb got quite creative.
