i have used them and like them. I think the ultra white is better than persil universal - YMMV

Have you used any of the specialty ones (ie. down, sportswear, etc)?

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on those as well as the color powder.

I'm not paying for them so I guess it's worth the gamble to try them.

I've only tried the Miele Care Color gel, Color Powder, universal gel, universal powder and the delicate wash.

LOVE the way the delicate smells, and it left my sheets so amazingly soft and basically 100% wrinkle free. It is just too expensive to use for sheets.

I did not care for the other above 4 products. They were all sub-par to Persil, and they seemed harsh to my laundry. The Miele Care powders and gels/liquids left my clothes looking dull, and dry. NOT a fan at all.

I am considering a Miele, saw this post re: detergents figured I can ask you experts here . Can you use regular detergent in this machine , like Tide? My mother in law has a 20 year old Miele and has her daughter bring Persil from England . I was hoping this is not the case with the newer machines.

@alizacf, yes you can use other detergents in the Miele (ie. Tide)

I will say that Persil (German version not UK version) is excellent though.

OK ... so I got a box of Miele Ultra White and a box of Ultra Color and the fabric softener.

I had huge doubts as it smells quite strong in the container.

I have to say, I'm three loads in and the smell when washed and dried is VERY nice. I guess @Larsi and I will disagree again :)

It is light and very pleasant smelling. I don't mind my kids' clothes having a nice light smell - just don't want to smell them 2 feet away.

I did a load of white towels and found they felt soft (no FS) and the smell was just enough (when you had your face on it you could smell it). They also looked nice and white.

The white formula is floral and citrus and the color is lavender and citrus. The FS has a nice fresh (they say "natural" smell). Nothing smelled overwhelming when done.

I found items felt soft (just like Miele says) and looked very good. Nothing was filthy so hard to say about cleaning but Miele claims they do a fabulous job.

Anyway ... may have finally found my answer to Persil (which I find too strong).

So, I'm just too "giddy" about this stuff.

I did a fairly dirty load of whites yesterday. I used the Extra White (extended) setting but only selected very warm to see how it would work. I used the Miele Ultra White with just a touch of the FS. Load came nice and clean, white and smelling just softly. So happy!!

I did a microfiber robe last night that had a stain and was getting a little "grungy" looking. I was tempted to use the sportswear detergent as it's for microfiber material but opted for the Miele Ultra Color and a scant bit of Miele FS. Used delicate cycle, cold and the rope looked perfect. It has a light pleasant smell but nothing overpowering.

Gee, I really want someone else to try these so we can discuss ... otherwise, I'll keep talking to myself ... LOL.

I looked up a professional cleaner in the Toronto area that has the Miele Wet Care system. If anyone is interested, they show some neat videos of the system at work. Someone had posted that the Miele Care (home) detergents were repackaged formulas from their professional line so I was curious.

So far they seem to be doing a great job and most importantly for me, not smelling up the place. Really, just lovely fresh scents.

It also proves that my Frigidaire must not have been rinsing as well. My friend had given me some Miele Care to try when I still had the Frigidaire and I found the scents overwhelming ... residue perhaps? I always use the sensitive option for rinsing on my Miele.

@ Livebetter...you can talk to me about the Miele Care Collection, but we probably won't have much to talk about! LOL

I've tried them all, and think they are not bad, but Persil for me, is leaps and bounds better. I found the Miele Care powders and liquids to fade colours, make fabrics look dull...and their for whites versions, did not whiten as well as Persil Universal (or Tide with Bleach). I also, think they are very overpriced. Sorry sweets :)

OK, so I've been using these products exclusively for two weeks (that in itself is an anomaly).

I really, really love them. I'm not having your experience with them at all Larsi.

My whites are white and clean and my darks/colors look great.

Most of all, everything is just nicely scented (my favourite thing about these products). Just a nice light fresh smell.

All dirt and stains have been removed (even oily ones and dirty pants from my kids playing outside).

I washed my sons' brand new down parka (after he fell in the mud wearing it - no snow here in Ontario yet) with the down wash and it came out beautiful.

I've been using delicates for all my nice clothes and I've used the sports one as well.

I'm not a huge FS fan, but I've used theirs at maybe half dose and even it doesn't overwhelm me with scent. Very surprised.

The only downside is their cost ... oh well, I still have credit to spend at the Miele store so until I run out of free stuff I won't worry about it.

If they are made anything like the wet clean detergents, the link I quoted earlier says the ingredients cost 15X regular detergent (I think? something like that ...).

Anyway, just happy to be happy for once. I'm not even tempted to keep mixing it up. I purged my current stash and started giving stuff away.

Anyone who found Persil overwhelming should give them a try (if you're not afraid of the cost).

Ok ... I had to share this little story as I was pretty amazed.

I have a nice Kate Spade make up bag. This inside is a bright orange with gold polka dots. Today I noticed that the cap to one of my lip pencils had come off and I had lip liner all over my nice bag. Bummer ...

I tried a few things to remove it (dish soap, Miele liquid detergent for color, Miele Delicates). I then decided to try the Miele Sportswear detergent.

I used a toothbrush and it all came off. I rinsed the bag with cold water and used a towel to remove most of the moisture. It's almost good as new!

The other thing I noticed when I used the Sportswear Detergent is that the laundry sink looked clean.

I don't know what's in that stuff but it's great! Just an FYI.

I also ordered the Miele Liquid Ultra Color last week and while it smells stronger than the powder, I still don't find it offensive - it works great.
