Please Help Find An Orange-Red Rose
Comments (24)Thank you all for your suggestions! I wish my rose blooms will be as prolific as the suggestions posted here! I'm afraid "Wild Fire" and "Dolly Parton" are too flashy for me. Benjamin Britten is quite pretty. It's not the kind of color I'm looking for but it brightens up the view without being over-the-top flashy or gaudy (what I call "harsh for the eyes"). Now about Fragrant Cloud, I read somewhere that it's not very vigorous, is that true?? Growquest has it on sale, only $9.99, I am very tempted. BTW Growquest is having a "clearance sale", the heavy discounts make it even harder for me to resist....See MorePlease suggest a frarant orange rose for zone5
Comments (11)Thanks for all responses. When I mentioned zone 5 in the subject of posting I was hoping to get response from people who have grown the roses and I can be sure that I would end up buying hardy roses.Fragrant cloud seems to be a favourite.I will look around and get one if I can find one locally.I can also pick up Honey sweet from the lacal nursary if I can bring myself to pay $29.99 or I might add it to my list for mail order next spring.Tropicana looks like cl America which I have .Liane I have daybreaker and like it a lot.mgleason -last summer the local nursary had prairie sunrise and winter sunset and I choose the PS because it had deeper apricot color with more petals and distinct smell and Iam happy with my choice.Do you have any fragrant orange/blends? Jim,You are right in assuming that I was hoping to hear about orang(y)e roses like gingersnap.looks like there aren't too many choises in that color range.Fragrance and hardiess in a orange rose is all Iam lookig for . I might try Cary Grant or Flora danica next spring. Dana...See MoreSuggestions for orange climbing rose.
Comments (12)"Rusty's Angel's Camp Orange" is a modern rose. A suggested identity is 'Royal Sunset.' The April event is in the Historic Rose Garden, within the Historic Old City Cemetery, 1000 Broadway, Sacramento, CA. The Open Garden always takes place on a mid-April Saturday. (The 2013 date has not yet been announced.) I believe the photos posted here were taken at Open Garden, April, 2011. Comments (4)Thank you both for your suggestions. I like both Sun Sprinkles and Best of 2004. I will definitely put both of them on my list, maybe I will order them today! Gardening on a city balcony certainly has its downsides, the window washers broke off some stems that were ready to bloom. They wash the windows while hanging from a rope from the roof of the building. I moved all the pots inside that I could but I have two larger pots that I cannot lift. Maybe next time the windows are due for washing, I will tie the stems together....See Morezack_lau z6 CT ARS Consulting Rosarian
