Orangeade is true orange, and Dragon's Blood can't be used for cutting (it loses petals immediately), so how about the oldie, but goodie Fragrant Cloud? Or maybe Kanagem?

Or if you're looking more towards the russets, then Hot Cocoa or Brown Velvet, both of which are great roses overall.

Yeah Dragon's Blood is too rich for my taste (sorry for the pun). I don't want Russet, just an orange-hued red that's soft on the eyes.

ooh my gosh! I just found an old post where some lucky folks showed off their orange blooms, and I found the perfect bloom--Austin's Summer Song! The color and shape are just Perfect!!! unfortunately it's not suitable for cutting as the blooms drape instead of staying upright. I am sad.

If you like the color of Summer Song, I think you'll like Snuffy. A fairly new HT. I've had mine for 2 years. Good bush with beautiful blooms on long, cutting type stems. Blooms last 5/7 days inside.

I love Pinata, don't know if it's right for your climate though. And I ordered Rosette Delizzy although I've yet to see her bloom.

I second the suggestion of Fragrant Cloud. Another rose in this color range that meets most of your criteria is Dolly Parton. This hybrid tea is excellent for cutting, is the right color, and a non-climber but the flowers are HUGE (and strongly scented).

I noticed Fragrant Cloud recommended tor zone 7 and higher. Is that true or is it hardy enough for zone 6?

I own a fragrant cloud in zone 6b South central Kentucky. It's doing fine down here...Oh, and I think Seil owns one and Seil is further up North. I think it's safe to say that the Fragrant Cloud will survive zone 6.

I'm afraid "Wild Fire" and "Dolly Parton" are too flashy for me.

Benjamin Britten is quite pretty. It's not the kind of color I'm looking for but it brightens up the view without being over-the-top flashy or gaudy (what I call "harsh for the eyes").

Now about Fragrant Cloud, I read somewhere that it's not very vigorous, is that true?? Growquest has it on sale, only $9.99, I am very tempted.

BTW Growquest is having a "clearance sale", the heavy discounts make it even harder for me to resist.

An oldie, Tropicanna, aka Super Star, would also work well.

Word of advice regarding Growquest....I wouldn't buy from them. There was a recent thread discussing their terrible business practices. Even if you Google "Growquest reviews" you'll find a lot of negative information on them. There are much more reputable sellers to buy from :)

Thanks intris. I don't know why, but some HMF descriptions of Zones are way off. Why are they putting out misleading info?
BTW, how many "clouds" do you have?

Do not send any money, (or credit card number), to GrowQuest ever, ever, ever, no matter what the "deal" is that is touted. The guy there will take the $$ and you will never see anything in return. If you want to throw money in the trash, use a trash can.

Fragrant Cloud grows best when grafted to vigorous roots, such as Dr. Huey. I grow two of them -- one a VID specimen I got from Vintage as an own root plant and the other one is a Home Depot body bag on Dr. Huey roots. The Home Depot specimen is much better.

I love love love Fragrant Cloud. I stupidly took it out a couple years ago since it was in an awkward place. Now I want it back again and am making a new bed for it, for next Fall. I did order the VID version from Vintage but had been wondering how it did on own root. So, I will probably get a grafted version too, since I have to have this rose! Thanks for the info kstrong.

Home Depot got Fragrant Cloud this week for under $8 for a 1g.

I love Fragrant Cloud, but it doesn't do well as a cut flower for me. A day or two in a vase is all I can get out of it.

I own one fragrant cloud. I bought it last year. It survived this winter with no die back and minimal winter protection. Granted, we had a mild winter. I think with winter protection, it would survive any winters here.
From what I can tell, the fragrant cloud loves the heat. We had a very unseasonably hot summer. It was putting on blooms when all my other roses were on strike from 100+ degree temperatures.
When the blooms open, they look like 5 inch popcorn balls. I'm very attached to my fragrant cloud. c:

After having one in the shade (that survived fine) for 3 years, I bought my second this year. Both are on Dr. Huey and very strong and mostly disease free. She thrives in heat. Mine cuts beautifully and that fragrance! When I bring bouquets in to work, Fragrant Cloud, Chrysler Imperial and Double Delight get the most ooos and ahhhhs.
