Comments (152)I was fortunate enough to see the 617 which our local mega dealer has on the floor. I am in NE Ohio. This machine certainly has eye catching appeal, and I don't get why no big box retailer dedicates floor space or stocks locally. Without seeing, touching, comparing, few buyers will purchase sight unseen. IMO the 70 series was feature laden with specialty cycles and stain treat options and a fantastic 3 slot custom memory. I get the impression Lux chucked the otherwise difficult to navigate interface of the 70 series, simplfied popular options, and gave it an overhaul chic appeal! It appears to be a very well built machine and drum looks to be identical to the 70 series. I am not so much sold on the detergent pre-mixing tank, especially if your a powered detergent or pod user. My concern is does the machine fill through the tank and effectively flush between uses, or is there a potential to have crud residue, and stench built up? Its difficult to differentiate between detergent and water in the sump, and sprayed on the load during fill as many machines do. The only advantage I see to the Lux system is perhaps a more complete mixing of detergent and water applied to the load uniformly. You could always bypass it and add product directly to the drum. My only other peeve is the display is not back lit and difficult to see, but not a deal breaker by any means. My overhaul impression is this machine is a winner and will have no problem compeating, that is providing the retailers allocate floorspace. It offers top tier features and P172 certificaton, at a price point (899.00) that is several hundred dollars less than the competion. I will look forward to actual usage reports....See MoreI tested Electrolux's new front-loading washer and here's what I found
Comments (36)No need to drown readers with input. But a facts are helpful. # of loads. type of loads, f.ex. whites, towels, poly workout etc. enzyme/non-enzyme detergent? very different results with Method liquid vs Persil Pro Clean f.ex. temperatures tested i.e how hot is the hot wash? You told us 125F. Is that as hot as it goes? Internal heater? Number of cycles & Range of cycle lengths These are quick facts that should be known up front. A pretty interface is fine though it doesn't do anything for me. Who cares if the machine mixes -- I put all the stuff in first. I want it to work best not stupidist. Also why certain things, like a heater and number of cycles are important and why they are not. Then folks can adjust response to their needs....See MoreDoes your washer rinse your clothes? Comments (15)Based upon all of that, it does sound like either the new GE 755 or the Maytag Commercial is your best bet. I have a GE Profile top load from 2006 and use Tide pods. I've had zero issues with clothes not coming out clean or there still being odors. The key to a good top loader is enough water and agitation. The ones with just the disc on the bottom that use 1 gallon of water are pretty bad when you watch the videos of them, I would never buy one. The GE 755 does have load sensing for water, but once it begins washing if you press and hold the Deep Fill button for 3 seconds, it will fill up the tub. The Maytag Commercial only has two water settings, half and full. Both also have the 2 rinse option. The Maytag unit also includes a 5 year factory parts and labor warranty....See MoreElectrolux front load not rinsing out all the soap from machine
Comments (67)Mark the washer did not smell at all. I opened up and I smelled every single part of that machine. Undid hoses, smelled the pumps etc. The smell was in the clothing. Towels were completely fine. Sheets were completely fine. The smell only came when I washed clothing. When I got my new machine I still got the smell when washing clothing because the bio stink was in the clothes. I had to wash all our laundry multiple times on sanitize cycle with ammonia to finally get the smell out....See More- 8 years ago
