I need help with my kitchen wall color and my cabinet color!
Comments (5)I'd be tempted to try painting the walls man cave first. I think it could look stunning with your cabinets and go a long way toward making your kitchen look sleek. If you have the $$ for it, I'd consider changing out your countertops to something less yellow. If you find a laminate you like in stock at a big box store you can change out the counter yourself for just a couple hundred dollars - and it's easier than painting the cabinets. While you have the countertop off, maybe put up a new backsplash behind the sink - something high contrast with both lights and darks in it. And ... voila! Comments (36)I really like the fabric you have chosen for your curtains. Reminds me of a store we once had called Laura Ashley. -Well...I think you should find a gorgeous cream, thick white/eggshell and paint your kitchen walls this colour as it carries into you dining area (there is not visual break). It has to complement this area at the same time. All four walls in kitchen area white, so no accent wall. (Yes, this includes the wall we see that leads into the living room). -Go with that gorgeous darker of the two greens for your upper cabinets and white again for your lower cabinets. The standing cabinet surrounding the fridge can also be the same green, with your island remaining white OR be white, again with your island remaining white. Keep in mind your appliances are black. White ones would be best but another time. **When you paint your island white, keep the knobs black. This ties in with your curtain rod above the glass doors as well as your appliances. -Please, please buy the kit that allows you to get a granite look for countertops and apply to both cabinet and island countertops. -Since you will be in painting mode, I would recommend also painting out the living room the same white until you find a colour for it that allows the eyes to transition naturally from kitchen/dining to living room. 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoHi Iristi! Glad to see you getting some great help over here. I just recently discovered the dec. forum myself, as I usually just 'hang out' in kitchens. I knew they would be a great help with paint colors.
I had some fun playing with my little doodle app for you. Here is a mood board of your finishes. I really like the sage green colors with your maple cabinets. I haven't seen this color irl, but the background color is Valspar green tea leaves. I threw in some pops of your favorite Firenze color for fun. I usually prefer to use Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint, but recently I used the newest Valspar called Reserve and really liked it.
I think I would do your kitchen and dining room all the same sagey green color since there are connected and have the same tile flooring. But how about doing the living room walls or just a feature wall in the Firenze? I think the picture on the right is actually BM butternut which I liked too.
I am no expert here, but I am digging this combo! Good idea to get samples for sure to see what they do in natural daytime lighting and with your lighting at night. Btw, when I saw your before kitchen photo, I just remembered your other thread about the pony wall. Please keep us posted on the progress. Best wishes! :-)

Yes, those two are not close in color but are close in depth/LRV, Misted being only slightly deeper.
Guilford Green, though, is up near 60 in LRV, so it might work for you.
Or how about BM Tea Light

and you have a chair rail that limits the color, why not just paint the kitchen the bottom color? It has an olive tone so I wouldn't put greens with different undertones in the next room. Are you stopping the color in the kitchen or bringing it into the breakfast room?
