What's for Dinner ... Friday?

A nice elf left a bag of green beans and a small bag of red potatoes on my porch in the wee hours of the morning. Made my day. I got a piece of ham to add to them, and made that my meal for the day. First fresh beans I've had this year. He later emailed and said if I wanted more, he'd get them for me. Hooray.

Our landlords must have made a stop in Ohio Shirley! That happens to us regularly! LOL

Hubby has the urge for a ham, so we bought one today and will have that with some potatoes and green beans tomorrow.

I made a pasta salad and my Asian coleslaw.

I am making home made sloppy Joes tonight. I have a cucumber I need to slice up and use so that and a tomato to go with it.

Busy day today (really, about the last 10 or so days) and we're doing our easy fall back dinner. DH is outside roasting potatoes and will do a quick steak on the grill, I'm going to just steam some asparagus and rinse some blueberries for some antioxidants... I think I'll do a nicer dinner at some point this weekend, I somehow have a sale ham in each of two refrigerators, use by dates on both first week in June. One I'll freeze, the other I'll cook. We'll probably be having ham with au gratin potatoes, ham and bean soup, ham and eggs - all next week ;)

I went out with a neighbor to a wonderful restaurant and had prime rib and baked potato along with a ceasear salad. I brought 3/4 of the prime rib home because it was LARGE! I'll probably have two more meals from it. I even had a whiskey sour which is real unusual for me. It was so good and we had fun.

Just made some Caesar salad dressing and topped the salad with blackened salmon for DH. I was too tired to eat myself. Maybe in a little bit. Returned home from a golfing trip with the ladies….3 days of golf and late nights. Took one day off except for Mexican train last night and played golf today. Looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Oh dear....not the ideal dinner for us! We had been invited to some close friends' home for dinner over a week ago. I asked if there was anything I could bring and she insisted that everything was covered.....she was making lasagna. She turned down my offer of a salad. I love lasagna, but I have a real problem with wheat pasta. When I make it, it's a veggie layered meal, with ricotta, Italian sausage, gooey and delicious but no wheat noodles. She had yummy appetizers, puff pastry treats mostly, which I adore but can't eat much of. Luckily, there was a veggie platter. Her lasagna smelled and tasted divine, but I knew if I ate more than a bite that I'd suffer all weekend. And NO salad! I guess I'm going to have to declare myself 'wheat free' to my friends. I've never been to a restaurant or dinner where there were zero options and this was a bit of a shock. We stopped at McDonald's on the way home so I could have their Southwestern salad with grilled chicken. Robert stuffed himself with lasagna, lol.

Fish tacos; I make them a different way every time, but we always like them. I made a spicy slaw with slivered zucchini, turned out great.

We went out for dinner. I had blackened salmon and DH had steak. Both had leftovers so I know what I'm having tomorrow night!

Chips and salsa, garlic shrimp, (extra garlic) refried beans, rice and fresh corn tortillas. DH brought home Mex for me. :-)

We had scrod with a ritz cracker topping, oven roasted potatoes, coleslaw and fresh tomatoes. Dessert was an apple, berry, rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream. It was wonderful.
