Irritated - Teasing of Dog-Rant
Comments (12)Sorry, I will disagree with the others. For me, that guy has had his "last chance" too many chances back. He would NOT be allowed on the place. I don't care about his age, it is the fact that the man had total contempt for you and what you say. He is totally sure that he is better about dogs than you, and he can take your dog if it comes to conflict. Obviously the outcome could be up in the air, but his chances might not be high faced with your dog. He does NOT believe that the dog really means what it says, and WILL CONTINUE to push the limits to get the dog to come after him. Doesn't matter what YOU SAY, or your brother, SOME situation WILL HAPPEN to get him in conflict with the dog. The only question in my mind is going to be WHEN the attack takes place. If this moron man is not forbidden the property, or dog locked up with PADLOCKED gates, the dog is going to hurt the man. The man CAN NOT resist proving that he can "take" the dog if he is attacked. The whole situation is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Dog is now proven "aggressive with numerous incidents" that you will have to testify DID happen, in a court of law. Those will be pointed out as "Warning signs" that you ignored before dog DID attack him. Doesn't matter if you had warned him, told him not to enter. It will easily be proven you harbored a "dangerous" dog and did nothing to prevent the situation from happening. Even if the man doesn't sue you, his insurance carrier will to get costs back. Sorry, you will lose the dog and the case. Your home, farm or business insurance will jump accordingly. I would call your brother, say you have changed your mind. You don't want the man on the property again for any reason. You will be gambling that the man will follow directions, and he has ALREADY proven that he won't. His contempt for you (perhaps as a female) or authority figure, has been shown, along with threatening (Just in FUN!!!) the son, and plain ignoring where he is allowed or not, is now well known and displayed. Sorry about your brother and his help, but is the CERTAIN problems this man will bring, worth the trouble allowing him on the property?? Young or older man, this guy needs to find the results of his bad choices, no respect, in his paycheck. He has wasted the opportunity for more chances. I am sure you have heard the one about "No good deed goes unpunished". He would not get another chance to be a jerk, from me....See MoreWasting an Airline's Time -- My Rant
Comments (11)Poor Snidely, living west coast and flying to any island in Hawaii nonstop in only five hours! LOL We have at least a 14 hour travel day from Chicago. It's worth the hassle to have the long leg (nine hours) in first on a 767 -- especially if I can lie nearly flat and be able to sleep on the redeye returns. I'm OK in a coach seat for about three hours before I start sighing. Fran -- There's only 'coach' and 'first' on our flights Chicago-Maui, but the 'first' is more like what's called 'business' on transatlantic flights. I see that our fake return has us on an old MD80 Chicago-Dallas, but on a B321 on the return. That aircraft seems to have three classes, and we will be in 'business' as far as I can tell (pairs of slightly canted seats along the aisle). The 'first' cabin has single seats along the central aisle. Coach is three and three facing forward. Rob -- No, I didn't hear the pitch for flying US Airways, but the very first message asks if I want to hear all about the merger. (Not.) Your boss probably has a gazillion miles, and they want to wipe them off their books. When I select a coach flight online I do get prompted to "Upgrade to First for only..." Then I see I can pay twice the price of coach if I want to buy First. (Not.) We are retired Seniors whose miles come from CC purchases and miles flown once a year Chicago-Maui (8K roundtrip). At our stage in life we aren't buying (charging) a lot of things, but we've managed to keep enough miles in the kitty to use them for upgrades on our annual winter trip. It's only become a struggle to find the upgrades in recent years. (We aren't profitable or important to the airline -- not frequent flyers.) I attribute the problem to there being tons of newly retiring Boomers -- more competition for the upgrades and some willing to buy first outright. Thanks to you all for letting me vent! Remind me that you've already heard it all if I go nuts trying to get our returns set for March 2016 -- when the AA calendar opens....See MoreRant about dog rescue
Comments (16)I have adopted three dogs over the years from three different rescues. The first required an extensive questionnaire, ( own or rent, fenced yard, vet reference, who takes the dog if I couldn't care for them) followed by a meeting at the foster parents a 1 1/2 hour drive for me, then a final meet and adoption because of how this rescue was set up we all met in a park that was equal distance for all involved the co coordinator, the foster and me. (200-300$ I forget exactly how much it was ) Neutered and vaccinated. After this dog passed from bone cancer broken heart and lonely I started searching for a puppy on pet finder and found Theo. Again an extensive questionnaire followed by a phone interview, some questions similar to the first adoption but they also asked a lot about what would you do if questions and training classes were mandatory to adopt. After being approved to adopt from them I got to meet Theo at the foster family to see if he was right for me. After that the foster mom came to my home to check it and Theo came to stay. This was 350$ including the training classes. The last dog Duncan oh Duncan... ( he was the first dog I got to name the others already had names) He was picked up as stray and at the pound. I had to call before going and let them know who I wanted to see. Took him for a walk and three questions and 50$ later I took him home. First thing the bugger did was jump in the pond :) Theo Duncan and me are happy little family. Love all my dogs like family know I am a good dog owner, completely understand why rescues GRILL potential adopters. They get so many people who are not serious inquiring over the oh so cute animals, others who really are not in the right place in life to own a dog, or understand the responsibilities of owning a dog, and as mentioned above people who just want dogs to hurt them. Rescues just really want to get the adoption right the very best place for the dog and the best dog for you. Yup its a pain in the butt. Would and will go through it all again. Rescues pets come from people who love them, sometimes this causes a little bit of crazy over protectiveness but its usually from a good place. Trust me the love you will get from your pet will be worth the nosiness and annoying procedure to get them. Can you tell Im crazy pro adoption :)...See MoreEpipen prices
Comments (55)Rob, I did not exaggerte anything, Thank You. ABC6 news: Parents consider options after sticker shock of EpiPen cost: Some parents are struggling to foot the staggering bill for medicine their children can't go without. Sticker shock on EpiPens has one family considering a desperate measure. The EpiPen maker is now offering discounts after backlash from price hikes but it's not enough to keep some from going across the border. Amy Nilsen said her husband may pay a visit to a pharmacy in Canada next week after they just found out their daughter's prescription costs $1200 for a two-pack. Amy's daughter has never had to use her EpiPen but they don't want to risk not having one. "We have to have it we take it with us every day," said Amy Nilsen. Every 18 months, Amy refills the life-saving prescription for her daughter Libby. "She's had a peanut allergy ever since she was two years old so we've just seen EpiPen go up and up and up until now $1200 is outrageous," said Amy Nilsen. The cost hasn't concerned Libby just whether she remembers to have it on her. "I just don't even think about it I just think of it as something I need if there were an emergency," said Libby Nilsen. The sticker shock has Amy scrambling for a better option. Her husband travels for business and a trip to Canada is now on the table. "He can easily slide across the border I think he said for a two pack it's about 250 dollars," said Nilsen. Dr. Mimi Ghosh with OSU Wexner Medical Center treats adults with allergies. "It's not something you should play around with it's not optional medication for a minor condition it's basically the only treatment for someone having a reaction to something they ingested or inhaled," said Dr. Ghosh. Allergy experts at Nationwide Children's Hospital say the epinephrine is often good for several months after the EpiPen expires and to use it if that is the only option. "If you can to have that full strength on hand and if it's easier to have one versus two or three and just make it convenient we recommend getting one good one instead of two or three that are less potent just because you never know what the next reaction is going to be like," said Dr. Ghosh. Dr. Ghosh says a trip across the border is controversial. "They can go up there they can get things online you don't really always know what you're getting you don't know the clinic you're going to you don't have a relationship with the pharmacist it's just a lot of unknowns," said Dr. Ghosh. Dr. Ghosh hopes a generic drug hits the market sooner than later but said that's one reason why families are seeing the price hike. She recommends families seek out coupons or discounts from their doctors. Amy said coupons and discounts are not an option for her family. "They have a monopoly on it right now and it's unfortunate that they feel like they can gouge parents," said Nilsen. Epipen News Article...See MoreChi
