Temps this weekend not expected to go above mid 60's with more rain for both today and tomorrow and possibly into early next week.

MAKE IT SNAPPY - new this season so no stats. Was open early yesterday morning when we had upper 50's temps overnight. I'm glad I got to see it bloom. Both fans have scapes up so I guess it didn't mind the transition to the north.

CHICO RICO - opened yesterday and again today. What I'm noticing is it is trying to throw teeth. VERY vibrant color

in the garden. Seems like I have a bug problem which got to one of the blooms but not the other. I bought this from a forum member (Lisa) back in 2013.

Another of the HEAVENLY PINK BUTTERFLY x ROSE F. KENNEDY seedlings has bloomed this morning. Very different from its sibling in the second photo and much taller. I think it also has more cream to pinkish tones in it versus past years. Possibly due to lack of high temps.

Rebecca with Avant Garde. Unfortunately I picked the wrong pairing for this trellis as Rebecca does not get very tall.

And the peonies were wonderful until the storms came and made a mess

Will finish the peonies in the next daylily update. I do wish Houzz would allow at least 20 photos per post. Gardenweb never had a limit so I'm trying again to see if they will up the number per post.

Love all the daylilies. Make it Snappy is my favorite of these.

My efforts at growing peonies so far have been wasted. But I keep trying because I love them so much.

I have 3 of the same clematis that you have, Multi Blue, Pink Fantasy and Rebecca. I just got Multi Blue after seeing it blooming at a local nursery. Can't wait for mine to bloom. Pink Fantasy doesn't do well for me so I don't plan to keep it. I love Rebecca. I like Avant Garde and have thought about getting that one.

Ruth: Peonies are wonderful during drier weather with not so heavy downpours along with high winds. Peonies do love cold winters as do the clematis here. Avant Garde has done wonderfully here and will almost reach the top of the trellis they are growing on but not Rebecca. Avant Garde just started blooming a week ago and it has so many buds yet to open. Pink Fantasy here took a couple of years to really bloom more but I made the mistake of planting daylilies around the tower it is growing within which have crowded PF and possibly hurt the root system. I plan to dig out all the daylily NOID's around it and toss them and plant perennials instead. Next sunny day that is my first chore.

This morning when I went and checked my seedlings, I found this one open but did not detect any scent. This afternoon, I walked into the garden and could smell it right away. I didn't know it was the daylily, it smelled like honeysuckle but there weren't any out there. The closer I got to the seedling bed, the stronger the scent was. What a nice bonus! While I was out there I measured the flower and it is 5" across and there are 30 buds on 5 way branching. Think this one is a keeper! Marg

russian RAgtime is beautiful, I really like that one. Eyes on the Prize looks nice too. I've had Always Afternoon for several years & heard people complain about it, mostly for looking muddy. I've never thought that of mine, but I have to say this is the worst year it has ever had here. Like you say, blotchy & blooms didn't open. Never had that problem before.

Thanks Growgirl, Mantis, Kay! Light of the World is one of my favorites. Guilded Appeal - I love the curly edge. Yeah, I'd love to know why he named it like this. Filipina Bride's last flower was the best of the season.. was not hot enough for a long period of time for it to open all of the flowers well.

That's one of the fun aspects of this forum...getting to see blooms (when yours are done) on daylilies as the season moves on, zone-wise. I'm partial to pinks, so Second Thoughts talks to me...although I can't listen...lol...as I still have to find room for those sitting in pots... Isn't it great to take pictures of your beauties and then be able to share them with others? As for us, we can sit here and enjoy them without sweating and needing bug spray...win/win! Thanks for sharing your blooms with us.

Julia, just add additional photos in the first comment. Like that Rose Kennedy seedling. Make It Snappy has good dark color and a vibrant watermark.

darn. must have hit the wrong key again. then peonie's are so pretty.I tried to grow them once and so did my daughter, but, didn't have much luck with them.I guess it just gets too hot here for them. the clematis are very pretty, too. them seedlings sure don't look much alike, do they? but they are both soo pretty.

Julia, I really like the 2 seedlings a lot! I hope they do well. I also like all 3 clematis.

Peonies really disappoint me as they get ruined too easily.

Thanks all. I just took a quick run to the garden to see how the ones that opened today held up with the rain which started around 8 am this morning. I think they all pass the Julia test :) This is what they looked like at 6:30pm.

And found the next two holding up.

BLUEBIRD SKY

LIGHTER THAN AIR X JOAN DERIFIED seedling - I think I must have 20 of this cross. Some look like this one and others looks like Lighter Than Air. Unfortunately, these will get culled this year unless something really special shows up from the rest of them which I highly doubt.

I suspect the color problem in the flower in the third photo is water damage. Red and purple pigments are water-soluble so if the flower gets heavy dew or something like that on it, it will look like that. Daylily flowers that start to open in the evening are susceptible to damage like that.

Sure do like all the daylilies. Some have great attention grabbing color. Your Clematis looks so pretty. The only one I grow is Sweet Autumn Clematis. I have no choice. It reseeds everywhere.......Love the Peonies. Wish we could grow them well here. Difference in zones I'm sure..........Maryl

Make It Snappy looks extra pretty with the white daisies in the background! I love the photos of clematis and peonies. I wish I could grow those two as well as you do.

Love that new one. I really like the RFK seedling that has the same colors as RFK. I hope that one stays true because I really like it. Chico Rico look good But I adore Bluebird Sky with the monarda. Beautiful combo.
