Love it! My brother has my Gramma's old kitchen chairs. They are similar but more chunky with big metal studs. And he has the table with the "playground" underneath. My sister and I spent so much time under there! The four legs came in on an arc and there were two circles holding the legs together. Like the table on Everybody Loves Raymond.

Thanks all. funky - the chairs are new, replicas or "retro style" like the original diner chairs. First I nearly ordered from RetroPlanet.com but after speaking to the rep on the phone she advised that I should get a fabric sample first to make certain of the color, plus she reminded me that each chair is custom made and takes from 6 to 8 weeks to receive after ordering and thus are non-returnable. And two chairs would have cost me over $350(!). I was prepared as I was so enamored of them, but my head prevailed and I told her I would think about it some more. RetroPlanet has some of the neatest retro table/chair sets. mgmum - you should check them out just for nostalgia.

So I found another site, Cymax, selling the same chair for half the price and went for it. Their return policy is also sketchy but the young man on the phone said, "Oh these chairs are so great I guarantee you won't want to return them!" lol They come in red or yellow also, but I decided on the neutral grey. For $10 or so more I could have gotten a 2" cushion instead of the 1", but I think I'll be fine as I don't intend to sit hours on them and I considered the table height. Anyway the wooden chairs I have been using are hard as iron. : )

Those are great, but if that table matches your hoosier, I'd save the old ones, too--there's a pretty big demand for enameled top tables with the chairs.

Thank you. I thought a plainer style would look better than the two-toned colors or the tufted and buttoned backs. Some came with a handle on the top of the back - that was cool too.

Wasn't aware that enamel topped tables had matching chairs, mine didn't come with any but it is a utility table rather than a dining table.

When I was young my parents had a gray formica table with yellow vinyl chairs, similar to yours. Our chairs had upholstery tacks along the top and sides, and I think the set had belonged to my father's parents. Those are perfect for your kitchen.

Yep, you can see a couple here in this 1924 kitchen, and they fetch large prices on ebay when there's a complete set, especially in a popular color/pattern:

Yep, that was state of the art in 1924 (that's the Ladies Home Journal's latest kitchen design). The old hoosier type cabinets were designed to keep everything the cook needed close at hand, so she could stand or sit and work in one place. Thanks. I collect vintage tablecloths too and put one on the table yesterday. Now I feel like I'm walking into my grandma's kitchen! I don't know why but for some reason the kitchen seems to have gained some space now that the chairs are smaller and at either end of the table. Why didn't I think of this before? Isn't it weird when that happens?

No decent lady of the house, esp. your grandma, would have left a tablecloth with wrinkles on the table but I just came in from the garden a minute ago and didn't feel like getting the iron and ironing board out before I snapped the pic.
One of many of my tablecloths. Favorites are used often outside too so are stained. :( I just keep buying new (different) ones, altho I have reined myself in lately. The last one I bought was a vintage Christmas tablecloth just because I never had one and they do get snatched up quickly. I paid $18 which is more than I usually pay for them.

Thank you. The stove was here when I moved in, my Uncle probably bought it new in late 1940 or in the early 1950's. Still goin' strong and I've been here 36yrs.
